I was going to write a review of this hotel as we stayed here last summer but I must admit I can't think of anything you haven't covered.
But I will try my best.
On arrival at hotel.( It did look a little worn from first appearances).
We stayed for 2 weeks last week of July, first week of August.
I must say we booked half-board(paid about £1900 2adults & 1 child) ,so we didn't get served a welcome drink as all-inclusive guests do. A porter arrived to show us to our room and take our cases from us (which we found very helpful after a 4 hour flight). at least we were first stop from the airport.
After some discussion we decided to up-grade to all-inclusive, (cost about £500 more)it was very hot and didn't want to be wandering about looking for somewhere for lunch and drinks were expensive if you weren't all-inclusive, turned out to be a very wise decision as we could hardly get our son from the pool.
Our room was a side view overlooking the car park but a nice view also of the sea. The room was I would say a 3*,cleaned daily, it was clean looking too, with sitting area (or 2 beds) with tv,fridge,
safe,(payable)double bed . More wardrobe space I think needed for a family of 4 or more although it was ample for the three of us.
A balcony with a table and 2 chairs(why 2 when they know there are more than 2 in the room, I don't know).
The bathroom again was dated but all the facilities you need ,shower over the bath, tiolet and vanity unit with hair-dryer.smellies, towels replenished daily by the maids.
The lobby was very impressive, with a bar and vienna coffee shop/internet cafe.
The corridors to the rooms were in need of new carpet as it did look thread-bare in some places but I understand they were in the process of doing this but hadn't got to our floor when we were there.
The Dining room. Meals here were wonderful and varied from cypirot to good old sunday roast, which I must admit was excellent, desserts are my downfall and I must have had a different one every night, drinks are included at all meal times.
We did eat by the pool bar at lunch-times until we discovered the dining room was open and had more varied food than at pool (burgers, sandwiches and ice-cream were usual at pool).
In the evening if you you are feeling peckish after the dining-room and pool are closed you can use the cafe for sandwiches and cakes and of course your drinks. The staff we found here to be alot quicker serving than at the bar and when they got to know what you drank you were well away.
There are a couple of shops on-site- jewellery, gift and newsagents.
Can't tell you about Chariots night club, we tended to amuse ourselves as it was somewhat dark and dismal in there.
The entertainment during the day was very good for the youngsters and kept our 12 year old entertained most of the time so much so we could hardly get him out of the hotel! (darts, football ,volleyball,water-polo) Archery has an age limit, think its 16.
The pool is lovely, massive but it had to be closed twice while we were there because of little one's having accidents, so it had to be cleaned. The Beach. Well there isn't one really, a bit of sand and shingle but no good for bathing. There was watersports at the beach including canoeing and pedalo's. there was jet-skiing but there is a charge for motorised water-sports.
There were ample sun-beds and umbrella's around the pool and also the lawned area by the beach. Other activites included basket-ball, tennis and they also had a bowling green but this had to be booked well in advance if you wanted a game of bowls.
The indoor pool was really inviting, when it was to hot out-doors or just to get away from the kids and at this hotel in peak season there are hundreds. Along with the pool they also had an enormous jacuzzi (wonderful), steam room, sauna and fully equipped gym.
Out and about As we had a 12 year old son with as who didn't want to leave the activities we didn't venture very far. but managed the following:
Mini-golf which was about 1km from the hotel and we really enjoyed this a couple of times. Just behind the mini-golf is a really good Go-karting track which is well worth the 10 cypriot pounds and loads of fun for everyone.
Not far from the hotel was a small funfair,(bumper- cars ,small rides for kiddies and an arcade) keep them amused for half-hour.
Shops are about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.
The bus service is good , half-hourly from just outside the hotel and costs 50 cents, we managed to venture to the harbour and into town without getting lost.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend this hotel to families , but not to anyone who is looking for a quiet time during School holidays!!
Also good we found for children outside hotel were mini-golf course . and the go-carting track was excellent and well worth the money (between 5-8 cypriot pounds) . The beach at the hotel was not good but the public beach a couple of hundred yards down the road was better.
