A COMPLETE Guide for Frequent Flyers

Advantages: good flights/awards ratio, excellent frequent flyer service
Disadvantages: some awards too "expensive",hard to attain gold status

...revamps throughout the last years, Lufthansa Miles & More is now among the very best frequent flyer programmes in the whole airline industry, second only to the Qualiflyer Programme. Learn how you can maximise your miles and get the most from them.

For those unfamiliar with frequent flyer programmes, here is a brief explanation:

For every flight you take with one airline or its partners you collect miles which in return ...
...the frequent flyer programme of Lufthansa German Airlines and the Austrian Airlines Group (including Lauda Air and Tyrolean).

The programme has undergone various changes since its launch in 1993, mainly resulting in lower amounts of miles needed for free flights. For residents of Germany and Austria, it comes with a special - unbeatable - mileage table, but even for overseas residents it is one of the most competitive programmes.

Excellent loyality programme

Advantages: one of the best programmes around
Disadvantages: :-)) you do have to fly or spend money

...( in UK for example Lufthansa Miles and More credit card issed by MBNA with 6000 bonus miles on offer when you join) Their website is very informative and offers every service posible online. The flight awards start from 15000 miles (smart ticket) and you can book online on a short notice (48 hours) They offer award flights not only on Lufthansa but across whole of Star Alliance network of airlines, so in most cases there is always a good choice ...
...Miles and More balance to fly business class from London to Moscow on Swiss airines. I booked 2 days in advance and all I needed was 25000 mile + 80 GB pounds in taxes and fees. All though I used my miles I still had opportunity to use full business class services including access to lounges which is not the case with all the loyality programmes. Overall, I would reccomend it to anybody. It does not cost you a thing and eventually you will end ...

For business travellers and romantic breaks

Advantages: Central location, good facilities, comfortable
Disadvantages: -

out but have no doubt that they were up to scratch. By staying at the Hilton you can collect HHonors points - this is the Hilton chain's rewards system, and there is the possibility to also claim points on a Frequent Flyer card. I know that both my BA Executive Club card and my Lufthansa Miles and More card could be topped up with points accumulated for staying in the Hilton - a pleasant little bonus for when you are travelling on expenses and you are in a more expensive hotel than you would normally stay in! Check-in is from 2pm and checkout by midday, and there is a left luggage service which I took advantage of. All in all a great holiday - especially for the business traveller, but also great if you want to have a romantic break away too. Fly to Vienna and enjoy the service

Advantages: excellent service
Disadvantages: small plane on European scheduled flights

boarding the aircraft, and you collect it back right after you leave the plane, so you can avoid waiting times in the arrivals hall. The costs for the flight are not much different from other airlines, but the service is much better ('Serive is Our Success' is the statement they use). Check out for special offers at certain times of the year (www.laudaair.co.uk). The majority of Lauda Air shares is now owned by Austrian Airlines, and therefore Lauda Air is also participating in the Star Alliance frequent flyer programme called Miles & More with Lufthansa being the leading airline. So you can earn airmiles when flying Lauda Air, and (as a Miles & More member) you can also spend your miles on free tickets for Lauda Air flights. The airline code for their scheduled flights is NG (I don't know why - it seems not to be similar to Lauda Air ...

They will always get you out of there

Advantages: Excellent service, outstanding competence in Eastern European markets
Disadvantages: Rather uncomfortable seating

this unbeatable charme, which ultimately reminds you of the Waltz Princesses in Vienna ballrooms. You can be sure to always leave an Austrian Airlines flight with a smile on your face. In March 2000 Austrain Airlines broke away from the Qualiflyer Group and joined the Star Alliance built around United, Lufthansa and SAS. AUA signed up to Lufthansa's Miles & More frequent flyer programme, which is probably the second best mileage programme worldwide. So good marks for Austria in this category as well. Austrian Airlines' airport lounges for business class passengers and elite status customers are among the best in Europe, second only to Scandinavian Airlines'. You should avoid the ones operated by Lufthansa in Vienna on Austrian's behalf, instead the following lounges are first choice at Vienna Airport: Terminal A: Senator / Star ...
