As someone who lives in London, I often find myself spoiled for choice of different airlines flying to the same destination. And in this case it's all comes down to value for money, customer service and convinience offered by competitors.
I fly a lot for business and pleasure.
Therefore, I have registered with most of airline loyality programmes around.
The miles and more programme offers good value. More often then not you get generous amount of miles for the flights you have flown and there are some special promotions to look out for. There is also opportunity to collect miles without actual flying ( in UK for example Lufthansa Miles and More credit card issed by MBNA with 6000 bonus miles on offer when you join)
Their website is very informative and offers every service posible online.
The flight awards start from 15000 miles (smart ticket) and you can book online on a short notice (48 hours)
They offer award flights not only on Lufthansa but across whole of Star Alliance network of airlines, so in most cases there is always a good choice of flights
Most recently I have used my Miles and More balance to fly business class from London to Moscow on Swiss airines.
I booked 2 days in advance and all I needed was 25000 mile + 80 GB pounds in taxes and fees. All though I used my miles I still had opportunity to use full business class services including access to lounges which is not the case with all the loyality programmes.
Overall, I would reccomend it to anybody. It does not cost you a thing and eventually you will end up with some kind of award, be it a free flight somewhere or another kindof award.
My reccomendation is: for free flights use your mile wisely. When you book free flights you still have to pay taxes and fees. Flights to most popular destinations in Europe can be bought for few pounds sometimes. So try to use your miles to the destinations where there is no huge competition and therefore there are no really cheap flights available

I cashed in all my Lufthansa miles for a Mont Blanc fountain pen - they have a great range of goodies if you don't want to buy flights

Your review could get better rating if you add more details like how to accumulate miles besides using a credit card and how to spend them. Also, all your three reviews have exactly the same words except for the middle part. If you edit your review, give me a shout and I would be happy to re-rate! xx
