I have flown on several short haul European flights and regional flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney on Lufthansa and found them to be a reliable airline. Their engineering standards are high, their large fleet is a modern one, and their ground services very efficient. Their in flight services are OK but frankly I do not think they are as good as say, MAS, Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific. Some of the in flight attendants were very helpful but one or two I felt were a bit authoritarian.
On the short European flights there were sandwiches which you could help yourself to and I thought that was quite a sensible idea for an hour or a two hour flight. On the flights between Malaysia and Australia I was quite impressed with the in flight cuisine - I thought it was of quite a high standard. I remember my breakfast meal of omelette with pimento and mushroom was piping hot and the coffee served up was very good quality. As you would expect from a German carrier the white wines served to passengers were of good quality. One small point of criticism is that Lufthansa do not appear to be as generous as some other airlines in dispensing freebies- I find Singapore Airlines and MAS very good in respect,with free tooth brushes,postcards,playing cards etc.
