Any review of Lufthansa has to start with a comment about the seats on the aircraft; they are simply superb. I flew from Manchester to Leipzig, connecting in Frankfurt, and even on this relatively short flight the seats were easily the most comfortable I have had the pleasure to sit in on an aircraft - well padded and supportive in the right places, though the grey/yellow colour scheme belonged more in the late 1980's than today.
Being a short haul flight, food was limited, and disappointing; consisting, as it did, of some very tired sandwiches. Vegetarian options also appeared to be limited. The flight attendants were courteous without being friendly as such, although this is not in itself a bad thing; and was probably a result of the large numbers of businessmen on the plane.
As far as safety is concerned, I have no complaints. Prior to takeoff there was a clunk and we were delayed for 30 minutes as mechanics rectified the problem, but since the problem was detected as a result of dilligent in-flight checks this strikes me as excellent safety rather than casting doubt upon the suitability of the aircraft.
I enjoyed flying Lufthansa, and would do so again given the opportunity - although their long haul prices do seem to be higher than some of their equally able competitors.
