In August of 2000, I planned to go to the south of France to stay with a friend for a week. I wanted to grab a cheap flight and eventually ended up on a Lufthansa flight which cost £163 (inc airport tax).
Outbound, the flight was from Birmingham International Airport to Dusseldorf then to Lyon. Inbound, it was from Lyon to Munich then back to Birmingham. I hgave to say that this was an inconvenience, having to change, but nevertheless the waiting time for each connection was only about 20-30 minutes.
It was my first time flying but the stewards and stewardesess were very polite and relaxed you. They were of various nationality: German, French, British. It was also nice to hear from the pilot, telling us our flight route and how close we were to landing. On boarding I was given a newspaper that was in french but fortunately for me I am a french student! You are given sweets when taking off and landing for the ears (which I so needed)!
The food I must say wasn't up to much. I had a salad on one flight which was tasty and orange juice although you can have alcohol if you want. Honestly though I would have to say that the food wasn't very tempting!
One thing that struck me was the comfort of the planes. Each plane had leather seats which were very comfortable. The flights mainly consisted of business people so I did feel a little out of place in my shorts and t-shirt againts the Pierre Cardain suits!
On the whole I would have to say Lufthansa is a good flight company. The service is good and the prices are reasonable.
