On my return flight from Munich I was to fly Lufthansa. I was late for my flight, I got to the desk and the (best German accent here) "non-smiling couldn't really care - you are obviously not German otherwise you would be meticulous with your time keeping” heel clicking logical thinking air steward behind the counter didn't give two dimes that I was late. He made no effort to try and shepherd me onto the flight, it was too late, I had missed my flight end of story. Kaput.
The thing is after arguing with him for 5 mins it transpired my flight hadn't gone yet, so I ran to the departure lounge with a suitcase in hand and would have made the flight if I hadn't been arguing with the SS guard at the front desk. So after making my way back to the ticket desk, queuing for around 40 mins I managed to get another ticket back to London. I had to buy a return mind you because a single is more expensive, you what? Can you come that by me again? Yep a single is more expensive (nearly double than a return), what a rip off.
So I got the return flight back home to the UK. Now the flight was relatively smooth, even though I didn't understand a word the air steward was saying through the tannoy. They should really make sure the tannoy is clear and the steward has an excellent grasp of English. Now the air stewards were a right load of miserable glamour dolly trolleys if I have ever seen any. Dear oh dear, as I tried to work out if the permanent smile through the one-inch layer of mascara was real, but it wasn't. The eyes always tell the truth, and their eyes were definitely not happy or caring.
I actually fell asleep 30 mins into the flight, at least I missed the food. Did I get a blanket, a pillow, course not, whom did I think I was flying with? British Airways? They weren’t particularly cheap either, over £100 for a flight - If I could have been bothered I would have shopped around at the terminal desks but I was too tired.
I actually hate the colours Lufthansa use, they remind me of a new born baby's jaundice. i.e. a murkily type of yellow. The in-flight magazine was useless and I didn't even bother with the radio, infact I'm not even sure there was a radio.
The planes themselves seem on the old side, and quite well used, the seats were fairly comfortable.
Well anyway that’s the last time I fly with Lufthansa.

You seem to be (in part) hating a German airline for the fact that... they don't speak English well! I'm sure that many many many many many many many (USA is a big place) many many many many more people with English as a first language don't speak German at all and couldn't be arsed to learn any other language.. At least they tried! - CW666

What a colour to use for planes, huh? Ugh. Thankfully I always fly with BA, at least on there you don't get any glamour dolly trolleys!! Loved the op.

If I was to write an op about every airline that has given me one bad experience, I'd be busy for the next year. Your rant about Lufthansa is based solely on one single flight during which, admittedly, everything went wrong. But so it has happened to me at least once on numerous other airlines, including BA, which would still not entitle me to a qualified opinion. LH operate around 2,000 flights a day, it seems you picked the worst one. Regards, Hans
