Luton Airport

Advantages: Easy, convenient
Disadvantages: None

My review on Luton Airport

Last weekend I flew to Amsterdam and I had the pleasure of flying out of Luton Airport, and I call it a pleasure because it really was!! If you want a relatively quiet airport with no queues, without the throngs of passengers you find at Heathrow/Gatwick, a few shops/restaurants and a convenient baggage reclaim and customs section then Luton Airport is the palace for you.

Luton Airport or London ...
...The main reason I like Luton Airport is that it is so convenient to get to. Granted, I live fairly near it but I work in London and this past weekend travelled from London to Luton for my flight. I took the train from London Bridge (First Capital Connect on the Brighton line) to Luton Airport Parkway which took just under an hour but there are faster trains. Then they have shuttle buses outside the train station that take you there for free if you ... more

...surprised if it didn’t. Luton has a terrible reputation. When you think of Luton (even if you’ve never been there) most people ‘of a certain age’ probably think of Lorraine Chase, Campari, and the phrase “Nah, Luton Airport!”… Or perhaps you remember the truly dreadful song ‘Luton Airport’, sung not by Lorraine Chase herself (though this is a popular misconception) but by the lamentable Cats UK… Strange that this was their only real hit record… ...
...much of a problem in Luton anyway. There is a huge multi-storey car park adjoined to the Arndale centre, which never seems to get filled up, and is not only reasonably priced, but also houses the Arndale Centres motobility service. Alternatively there’s another multi-storey that can be reached from Castle Street, and a very large car park on Vicarage street, which is absolutely ideal for the University… Ah yes, the University. I’m a student there, ...

Luton, it is getting better....really it is!!

Advantages: It's getting better!
Disadvantages: It should have got better sooner!

...the infamous town that is Luton (don't forget to drop the t, as is 'Lu-on'), but that does not mean I have always liked my home town, far from it, I used to hate it. But all things considering, over the past few years it really has improved, and dare I say it, I am starting to like the place. Luton was, and always will be an industrial town, with a major airport, a busy train station, the hat industry and even though Vauxhall's has closed down ...
...A few years ago, Luton got voted the worst town in England, and this had the effect on the Council that we had been waiting for years. They started to give a damn. They have tidied up the streets, encouraged new initiatives and have brought in better publicity for the town. Last time we did not even figure in the worst town report. But you may well think what is there in Luton? Admittedly, we are not exactly the sight seeing capital of the region, ...

Luton Airport, not as bad as you think!

Advantages: Expanding rapidly with great destinations
Disadvantages: Current roadworks willmake better but can be nightmare at moment

departures. Again I have been reasonably lucky but huge delays can be experienced at both immigration and luggage control so be warned. All in all, I personally find Luton quite a nice airport and it would be very easy to be fed up of it considering I spend so much time there. Like others, it does have its faults but in general, you will probably have a good experience. If you are flying from the airport also be aware to look out for celebs. Being big on private aviation, you may see Roman Abramovich (Chelsea Owner) in his private 767, Robbie Williams boarding a private jet off to some exotic location or maybe the England Football team heading off to an international match.LTN ...

FANCY LOSING OUT TO CARDIFF

Advantages: See Text
Disadvantages: Dirty, no catering or bar facilities

LONDON-LUTON Airport (Junction 10 North and South-Bound M1) The airport provides consumer comment forms for visitors to complete - WELL IF THEY ARE READING THIS, I HOPE YOU TOOK NOTE OF MY COMMENTS (I just wish I had read Flashpointz op on the subject before travelling) London-Luton is apparently one of the the fastest growing airports in the UK and the main headquarters for Britannia Airways, Monarch Airlines and EasyJet in the UK. Flight leave Luton daily for a wide range of domestic, European and International Destinations. For further info visit: http://www.london-luton.co.uk/default.htm THE CATCH? Many of you will know that we managed to get free flights with EasyJet, We had to fly from Luton at 6am, hence living some 210 miles away meant that the intenerary for Monday night after work and college was definitely ...

You must have flown in from heaven

Advantages: Easy to get to, wide choice of destinations
Disadvantages: Overpriced for the captive audience

Some of you may well remember the awful advert for Luton Airport, featuring Lorraine Chase responding to the above line with "Naaah, Loootun Airport." Thankfully for all of us in the town, things have come on from the days when the height of glamour was a Cinzano and lemonade. For those of you not in the South East, Luton Airport is situated about three miles from Junction 10 of the M1, and is within thirty miles of London. Recent additions include a new terminal building, and also a new rail link - Luton Airport Parkway. Firstly the new station. This is still over a mile from the terminal, but is serviced by a fairly reliable bus link. You can see the bus coming a mile off, as it is normally covered in bright orange Easyjet logos (More on them later) Many locals cannot see the point of the new station, as it is not much closer ...
