My Nile cruise started here and ended here, I also spent the last four days of my holiday here. Karnak temple is just a few minutes away in a kalesh (horse drawn taxi, very cheap). Karnak temple is the biggest temple around that many different Pharohs added to, the sound and light show is brilliant. From the Hotel I stopped in (The New Winter Palace), you could see Luxor temple, not as massive as Karnak, but still impressive. The people are a little more laid back than in other areas of Egypt, but the bazzars are as hectic. The things you can buy are wonderful but you will have to practise your bartering techniques.
