A relaxing place to do some exploring

Advantages: Get to learn alot
Disadvantages: Not much nightlife

Luxor is a brilliant place to relax and to get the chance to see ancient archieology and also to learn a thing or two! If you have always wanted to go to Egypt, then go to Luxor. There is alot to do and alot to learn. I went in Nov 07 and had a brilliant time. We stayed in a 5 star hotel for 2 weeks, which was situated right on the River Nile! ...little bit creepy actually! The Luxor Museum was definately something worth visiting and only about a ten minute walk from our hotel. I would say it took us about an 2 hours to look thoroughly around the Luxor Museum. The Mummy Museum was totally not worth visiting and probably took us 20 minutes and was not as interesting. Horse and carriage rides in Luxor

Advantages: Save embarrasing situation
Disadvantages: none

When agreeing on a price for Horse and cariagge rides be certain to acatain they are charging you in egyptian pound and not english ie. if they say 10 pound make sure its egyptian and not english. As many tourists at the end of a ride have been left embarresed and as they use the two currencies they are in there right to argue there case that they were talking about sterling. Goin on holiday to Luxor was a once in a life time experience. My family visited many attractions like the temples and the general area's around our hotel. Whe stayed in the centre of luxor and were treated to a gorgeous veiw of the nile. The weather was hot,hot,hot and was sometimes over whelming. Disadvantages: HASSTLE, Dirty, Noise, Beggars, HUSSLERS,

I can easily say it's the worse place on the planet for Beggars, husslers, filty, smelly and very very noisy. As we've been to many other Arab countries over the last 10 years, we've always found people friendly, not in Luxor, they're so experienced at husstling they don't give up, No Thank you doesn't work, they argue and shout until you agree to buy what ever they're trying to sell you. Luxor

Advantages: The heat (in winter) Stunning temples
Disadvantages: The heat (in summer) The hassle

I have now visited Luxor three times and would recommend it as a holiday to anyone. We have visted twice in July and the advantage of this is that it is one of the few travel destinations which is cheaper in the school holidays, howver the heat is incredible and if possible you should avoid this. It is possible to stay in a good quality hotel for around 400 pounds for a week in July which if cost is a consideration is a very reasonable cost. We ...
