We stayed at the Luxor twice recently. Our first impression after a transatlantic flight was WOW!!! It was huge! I have never seen a hotel on this scale before. It took us over an hour to check in, we were queing for aboslutely ages, and I have no idea why as we were the only ones from our flight staying there! It felt a bit like queing for a ride at Disney world! Our room was on the 21st floor and again it was huge, we were blown away but after our 10 hour flight we weew probably not functioning 100% either. The following morning we went to look at the pool and spa and casino. Again the sheer size of everything is amazing and we were gobsmacked. I think we walked about with our mouths open for ages! I sampled the spa and it was lovely, nothing special but for 60 dollars you cant complain. The pool areas were absolutely packed because they had roped of one of the pools for work. We had breakfast in the hotel which was very pricey but good. We were impressed! We had arrived in Vegas and stayed in a place I had always wanted to stay - awsome! We checked out of the hotel to begin our tour and returned 10 days later. By now we were hardened Vegas tourists!! And began to look at the Luxor with different eyes. Again we were on the 21st floor and I notice how the lift were dirty, and the decor damaged in places and not repaired. The carpets in the corridors and rooms felt dirty and they were even ruffled in places. The decor in the bedroom was tired and it felt like the whole place needed a bit of a revamp. We visited other hotels and they didnt feel the same and when we go back, which we will unfortuantley it wont be to the Luxor. I had always wanted to stay there for ages and I felt a bit let down that it didnt really live up to my expectations. Maybe it is scheduled for a revamp, I hope so, because it could be a lovely hotel, i feel its just a bit tired. Its a shame as the Luxor can be so very different from the other hotels, not just in its appearance but in the quality it can offer.

Advantages: An unmistakable icon on the Strip, distinctive and with no shortage of class. Exceptional price for exceptional quality of room, service and attraction. Caters for all ages, groups and functional needs. One of the best. Disadvantages: Watch the queues and price increase around American holidays but at all other times it is a supremely priced hotel.
Advantages: Central Location, loads going on for both children and adults, if you shop around you can get a great deal Disadvantages: We did initially get put in a smoking room when we'd requested non smoking but that was soon resolved to our satisfaction and with no fuss
