Advantages: Not too big, Friendly and nicely situated Disadvantages: Busy
...The Templegate Hotel is situated in the centre of the beautiful town of Ennis, Co. Clare. Ennis is in the west of Ireland and one of the most beautiful towns you could visit.
I had my wedding reception in this hotel so I have some good memories of it (despite being separated for my husband).
The Templegate is not a huge hotel as it only has 70 bedrooms. But it does have a bit of a history. The hotel was built on the site of the Convent of Mercy and has tried to retain a somewhat gothic appearance. This does not seem very obvious until you get inside the hotel, but I will tell you more about that later. Before the hotel was a convent it was two houses that belonged to a Charles O’Connell, cousin of Daniel O'Connell a predominant political leader in Ireland at the beginning of the 19th century. Acorring to Templegate hotel he visited...

Advantages: Warm, friendly, great atmosphere. Disadvantages: We could not stay longer.
...Having travelled extensively in Europe one of the places we have never visited is Ireland, so we went last weekend.
We flew to Shannon and hired a car for the four days. The weather was atrocious, and didn't get much better all the time we where there.
Shannon as my brother told me is just an estate of houses, due mainly to the airport being used for the Trans Atlantic flights, but as we drove through and around Shannon we could not seem to find a pub.
Having booked into The Oak Wood Hotel in Shannon, which was lovely we set out to explore in the rain. The road had two choices, Galway or Limerick we chose the Galway route.
We came across a sign for Ennis, so took that and as we drove through the town along the main road, a pub sign took our eye so we found a parking space, a small multi storey is just 4 shops away and went in...

Advantages: Central location, friendly attentive staff Disadvantages: expensive drinks
...& parnips and
banoffee pie to follow. We found the per head price which included half a bottle of pinot grigio was very reasonable compared to prices here in Scotland.
Overall we had no complaints. the only downside was the price of drinks. Two glasses of wine cost almost £15.
I would recomend anyone to use this hotel as a base for a weekend away. It is a two minute walk from Westminster tube, right next door to the BA London Eye and central for everything.
If you are looking for a romantic weekend then the County Hall is the one for you. There is a spa on site to pamper you (payable directly)
Or if you would like a very special wedding or civil partnership then use this hotel. The events team & banqueting manager do everything they can to help and nothing is too much bother.
Whatever you do have a brilliant time at this hotel....
