It was another pleasing experienced for me when I got the chance to explore a new place to indulge my appetite during my short holiday in Bali & found this fine dining, Ma Joly Restaurant.
The Location : Strategically located in Tuban area, around 10 minutes from the international airport, in conjunction with Kuta beach and buzzing Kuta area, the road to Tuban beach, Jln. Pantai Segara, swings right at the Bali Hai Resort. What appears to be a dead-end is actually the entrance to The Sandi Phala (Kupu Kupu Barong Resort) which we will find Ma Joly Restaurant, a surprisingly solitary fine dining place, a part from the resort. The best way to get here is by taxi or call the restaurant for free pick up service.
The Venue : Located by
a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach, the place has never ending amazing scenery and tranquility. Perfectly blended of traditional Balinese interior and high class service has really make this place stay by its own class. The amazing Bali sunset has been the event which most of this restaurant goers waiting for. It has been no surprise that the guests at this fine dining place always at its peak during this hour to enjoy light meals and which most of them stay to enjoy the fine candle light romantic dining.
The Menus : Its wide arrays of mouth watering menus will really indulge your appetite. The lunch menus of a Mushroom Pie, four different mushroom types stuffed into a flaky puff pastry. Small and crunchy Spring Roll stuffed with diced calamari and sambal (traditional chili sauce) on the side. The Crevette Persillade is a pair of prawns that have been cooked in parsley garlic cream. Marinated Fish are fillets of fresh tuna topped with olives, capers, shallots, juice of lemon added with balsamic. Fresh Oysters are also available.
To enjoy the ultimate diner experiences, coming early in the evening is the best suggestion to witness the amazingly beautiful sunset Bali can offer while sitting at the bar or one of the viewing tables that line the beach edge. Salad de Petit Foie, chunks of chicken livers, stir-fried with a drizzle of cognac and then tossed with lettuce, pine nuts and crunchy croutons is my type of salad. For the soups lovers, the Chowder is a cream seafood soup with chopped basil, crackers and Tabasco or the traditional French Fish Soup combines rock fish with other seafood, with garlic croutons, parmesan cheese and a saffron aioli. The dinner mains begin with a classic French dish, Navarin of Lamb with plums served with polenta or Ox Tail and Ossobucco Stew, a wonderful slowly cooked casserole of meat with flavor. For the international flavors, Australian beef is to the fore with both the Tenderloin and Entrecote. A Grilled Rack of Lamb and a Chicken Teriyaki, boneless chicken breast that has been marinated with ginger before being pan-fried in butter, then combined with the Japanese teriyaki sauce and served with jasmine rice. For the seafood lovers, a Fricassee of Garoupa with Prawns is two pieces of fish, each cooked differently, served with a prawn persillade ravioli and a fish veloute. The Tournedos of Salmon are with comfit potatoes, asparagus and an herb sauce. Want to try for something more simple, then Fish Meuniere, pan-fried in olive oil and butter can be a choice. Feel no worry if you are a vegetarian. A Cold Avocado Potage; a thick mixture of blended avocado, mint, coriander, shallots lemon and cream. Another alternatively is a Cold Capsicum Soup made by combining yellow and red paprika, cooked in herbs and cream. Also you may tease your appetite with a Vegetable Stir-fry combining mushrooms, paprika, tomatoes, broccoli, asparagus and onions. For dessert there is Crepe Suzette, a thin pancake heavily laced with that wonderful orange-flavored liqueur, Grand Marnier or the Chocolate Parfait comes with custard and a confit of orange skin. A Citrus Fruit Terrine combines a variety of fresh citrus segments in a sweet wine jelly, served with a lemon sorbet. The Service : Friendly service but yet still professional, quality foods and an incredible view, and all at very reasonable prices. So definitely I add this fine dining place to my list of recommendations of the Bali dining scenes.
