Advantages: Escape the rat race and find peace and tranquility Disadvantages: Not so much fun when it's raining!
We have been members of the Camping & Caravanningclub for some 5 years now and thoroughly enjoy discovering new sites around the UK.
Last year we were pleasantly surprised by the Clubsite at Clent Hills in the West Midlands. Although only a few miles from the suburbs of Birmingham it is surrounded by fields and country lanes and the popular Clent Hills are nearby. It is possible to walk to the top of the Hill - even with a pushchair (it is pushchair/wheelchair accessible). Once at the top there are viewpoints and also some 'stones' which probably mark the site of bygone rituals or the like.. ...
The Clubsite is well kept and particulary attractive with ample space between vans. The toilet facilities are of a high standard and spotlessly clean. The site wardens were helpful and friendly. We would strongly recommend it ...
Advantages: Lovely surroundings Disadvantages: Quite pricey compared to other sites
I have used tis campsite for the last three years as it always provides what we need. It is very easy to find just off the M271, definitely best to get to it from this side, not to go through the town of lyndhurst first as it is always very crowded in this very small town and will take ages to get through. Ashurst train station is also only a 5 minute walk away so you could get the train too. It takes both caravans and tents.

If you intend to use the site a lot it is also worth joining the forestry commision club as there are many sites they own and joining gives you a small discount ...
Advantages: OK if you like local club meets. Disadvantages: They don't trust their own members.
We were about to take our second year of C&C Club membership and decided on a booking for a late holiday with the clubsite at Scarborough. We were unable to book via the clubwebsite as it instructed us to call the site directly. We rang the site to make our booking for a 7-night stay costing £16.35 per night (caravan, awning & electric minus our 'club member' and 'over 60s' discounts)......pretty pricey we thought for late season but, so what, we thought we'd book! Then we were told that they could not take a booking without a deposit via Debit Card even though we were fully-paid-up members of the club. We told them that we do not give our card details over the phone to anyone (as we are all being told by our Banks etc). Their tone then became very abrupt and we were basically told 'don't bother turning up'. Needless to say, we then ...
