When I was in Hong Kong we noticed in out hotel we could go over to Macau for a day trip. In our hotel we could book this trip with Splendid Tours & Travel Ltd and they sorted out everything from our boat over to our tickets into the attractions. The tour cost us HK$760 each (adult) as we went on a weekday. For a child (under 9) it would have cost HK680 and a child (under 1) it cost HK$150. On a weekend/holidays it cost HK$780 for an adult, HK$700 for a child (under 9) and HK$150 for a child (under 1). For this tour you are required to have a Chinese visa before going on it. You will be provided with an English-speaking guide. Out guide was very friendly and very informative. He seemed interested with other cultures and made a point to spend time to talk to everyone personally on the tour ...

The name of the place "Macau" originated from the goddess of "A-Ma". It used to be a Portuguese colony. In 1999, it is handed back to China again. It is made up of the Macau peninsula, the islands of Taipa and Coloane.
General: Famous for being Monte Carlo of the East. All kinds of gambling can be found. Most famous for the Grand Prix Car Racing. Several new casino are opened, attracting more and more tourists. Geniune Portuguese cuisine can be found.
Culture: A fusion of East & West. One can find a Chinese temple is just a few steps away from a Catholic church.
Location: Macau is located in the Guangdong province, on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta. One can easily walk to Mainland China.

I work just off the coast of Luanda on a bp fpso (oil boat).
Each trip i've experienced to date has been nothing more than disgraceful.
For starters, the length of time to get through passport control is a joke, on a good day it will take you about 3 hours.
Secondly, the attitude of the locals leaves allot to be desired and they are all looking for extra money, one guy even asked me for some dollars to get an entry form!!
Thirdly, the general hygiene of the place is shocking, its an eye opener to say the least, the majority of local guys working offshore also have no regard to personnel hygiene, every trip i get a bug within the first week and feel rotten for the remainder of the trip, i'm now in the process of a career change.
And last but not least the homeward journey is just as bad as the entry, one of my work party was rejected ...
