Pestano Casino Park Hotel
Review of Pestana Casino Park Hotel, Funchal by waynecowley

Advantages: Very comfortable, excellent view overlooking marina
Disadvantages: Breakfast menu limited

I have just returned from a week at this hotel with my wife. It has been fairly recently refurbished and is in great condition. The rooms are very comfortable - the room we were in had a super king-size bed. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and, whilst I found the breakfast menu to be acceptable, it was lacking a little in variety as each day was the same. The pool was quite small for the size of the hotel but, suprisingly, we neve had any ... Read review

Savoy Resort
Review of Savoy Resort, Funchal by CHAOS1979

Advantages: Fantastic Customer Service, Amazing views, Well Presented and clean rooms
Disadvantages: On a hill, but then most of madeira is!

The Savoy Resort is pretty much amazing and we found it offers the most outstanding customer service ever! The Atlantic views are incredible and it is only located about 10 mins pleasant walk along the harbour from the centre of Funchal, Madeira's capital. There is a wide variety of leisure facilities both on and off site, including indoor heated pools, sauna's,beauty salons, sea filled pools (very novel!) and loads of lovely staff to make sure you ...
...The gardens surrounding the complex are beautifully landscaped, really enhancing the sea views offered around most of the site. They provide welcome shade in the middle of the day and provide a a fair amount of privacy if you so feel like it. There is heaps off site activities, including diving, dolphin watching, catamaran trips, levada walks, horse riding, balloon rides and water parks, We went on Sea Born, sailing catamaran, and after going on ... Advantages: Lovely big spacious rooms and balconies
Disadvantages: Location

...and was top quality food with plenty choice but I found that the hot foods were not particularly hot. However the hotel was very enjoyable in itself but we did not really like Madeira as a holiday destination. Overall the hotel was good but Madeira was not as we expected. ... Read review

Pestana Bay Hotel in Funchal, Madeira
Review of Pestana Bay Ocean Aparthotel, Funchal by bagoproverbial

Advantages: Informal, clean, decent food, right near the beach
Disadvantages: Hideously expensive bar and wines

We stayed at the Pestana Bay "Aparthotel" four-star hotel in Funchal (the capital of Madeira) in August 2005 and I'm happy to recommend it to anyone reading this. It was clean, conveniently placed (i.e right near the beach and with a nearby bus stop for trips into town), not too formal or "stiff upper lip" and the breakfasts were pretty good. COSTS: We paid just over £500 each including flights, for a 2-week stay in August, which we thought was ...
...very best points about the Pestana Bay is that the shape of the hotel is such that you can get a great view of the sea, and the afternoon and evening sun (including some sprectacular sunsets) from EVERY apartment. You don't need to worry about your apartment being tucked away and facing nothing more exciting than the people in the apartment across from you. Not only that but from most apartments you can get a great view, facing west, of Cabo Girao, ... Read review

Park yourself here and overlook the Ocean.
Review of Tivoli Ocean Park, Funchal by jo145

Advantages: Good 5 star hotel, super food
Disadvantages: A long walk to town centre

...too! We choose the Tivoli Ocean Park through a getaway break with our Timeshare, but anyone can stay in the suites at this hotel, there are 23 Terrace suites and 24 Tower suites, ours was in the Tower, which is the central part of the hotel with sea views from the balcony. There are also 245 Deluxe/standard rooms and 21 Superior rooms, plus 4 deluxe for disabled guests. As the name suggests it is part of the Tivoli Hotel Group. Our balcony gave ...
...in the vicinity of the Tivoli Ocean Park Hotel. Noise is normally minimal and only occurs during normal working hours." We could hear and see cranes working, but it wasn't too annoying, although for people in rooms overlooking the building sites which are on both sides of the hotel it might have been dusty and more noisy. Both hotels being built will soon be completed. Verdict - a great hotel especially if you can get a bargain price! ... Read review
