Regency Club Hotel Funchal
Review of Madeira Regency Club, Funchal by
lesleyburden
Advantages: Lovely big spacious rooms and balconies
Disadvantages: Location
...and was top quality food with plenty choice but I found that the hot foods were not particularly hot. However the hotel was very enjoyable in itself but we did not really like Madeira as a holiday destination. Overall the hotel was good but Madeira was not as we expected. ...

Park yourself here and overlook the Ocean.
Review of Tivoli Ocean Park, Funchal by
jo145
Advantages: Good 5 star hotel, super food
Disadvantages: A long walk to town centre
...too!
We choose the Tivoli Ocean Park through a getaway break with our Timeshare, but anyone can stay in the suites at this hotel, there are 23 Terrace suites and 24 Tower suites, ours was in the Tower, which is the central part of the hotel with sea views from the balcony. There are also 245 Deluxe/standard rooms and 21 Superior rooms, plus 4 deluxe for disabled guests. As the name suggests it is part of the Tivoli Hotel Group.
Our balcony gave ... ...in the vicinity of the Tivoli Ocean Park Hotel. Noise is normally minimal and only occurs during normal working hours." We could hear and see cranes working, but it wasn't too annoying, although for people in rooms overlooking the building sites which are on both sides of the hotel it might have been dusty and more noisy. Both hotels being built will soon be completed.
Verdict - a great hotel especially if you can get a bargain price! ...

Hotel in quiet yet accessible area.
Review of Porto Santa Maria Hotel, Funchal by
CHAOS1979
Advantages: Easy access to all activities and public transport.
Disadvantages: Probably quite expensive!
This is a beautiful hotel situated right at the end of the main promanade in Funchal. The views across the ocean, and into the city are perfect, with the sun setting over golden cliffs to the west in the evening towards the harbour. The hotel is situated right by the cable car and taxi rank, with the city centre on your door step, yet it is not a busy area, with very little noise. I have sat by the hotel reading a book in the shade many a time, enjoying ... ...I attended a party at this hotel, a wedding, and it really is outstanding inside, although unfortunately, I didnt get a chance to see any of the rooms. But knowing the group that owns it and having stayed in another one of their hotel I would assume it is excellent! I have entered most as "average" as I did not experience the hotel as a paying client as such. ...

Savoy Resort
Review of Savoy Resort, Funchal by
CHAOS1979
Advantages: Fantastic Customer Service, Amazing views, Well Presented and clean rooms
Disadvantages: On a hill, but then most of madeira is!
The Savoy Resort is pretty much amazing and we found it offers the most outstanding customer service ever! The Atlantic views are incredible and it is only located about 10 mins pleasant walk along the harbour from the centre of Funchal, Madeira's capital. There is a wide variety of leisure facilities both on and off site, including indoor heated pools, sauna's,beauty salons, sea filled pools (very novel!) and loads of lovely staff to make sure you ... ...The gardens surrounding the complex are beautifully landscaped, really enhancing the sea views offered around most of the site. They provide welcome shade in the middle of the day and provide a a fair amount of privacy if you so feel like it.
There is heaps off site activities, including diving, dolphin watching, catamaran trips, levada walks, horse riding, balloon rides and water parks, We went on Sea Born, sailing catamaran, and after going on ...

Riu Palace Hotel, Madeira
Review of Riu Palace Madeira, Madeira by
Helenofellon
Advantages: A fantastic holiday experience
Disadvantages: Location, in particular for those with mobility problems although the hotel is disability friendly.
INTRODUCTION
The Riu Palace in Madeira sits like a white-washed fairytale castle with terracotta turrets, corner towers and grand archways looking out over the sapphire-blue sea. The grounds house brightly coloured flowers and palm trees making you believe you are on a Caribbean island far away. The Riu Palace is located right on the seafront at Canico de Baixo, only 10 minutes drive from Funchal Airport and 20 minutes drive to the city of Funchal. ... ...from our balcony.
The Riu Palace Madeira website suggest that you can opt for a little more space and comfort by taking one of the suites which have a double bedroom and separate lounge with a sofa bed. Three of the suites have a garden view, rather than a sea view. Room 1531 high up one of the towers apparantely has a particularly large balcony, but we never noticed this room. Again the website states that the best way to decide which room would ...
