...to you. El Parque del Buen Retiro de Madrid The Park of "Retiro" is located in the heart of Madrid, the biggest Spanish city. It has become an essential lung for Madrid… and its inhabitants, who want to leave their hurried lives to take a little break in that wonderful park. It is the most important park of Madrid. So this park deserves a visit if you ever go to Madrid, because it joins past and present, art, history and architecture. There ...
...than other, but walking along the avenues you can discover new little wonders; this park always offers something new. In addition to it, I have to underline the privileged place that this park occupies. It is very closed to other important monuments of the city like Prado Museum, Alcalá Gate, Cibeles Square, Loyalty Square or Atocha Station. History of the park It was built thakns to the Count-Duke of Olivares, "Prime Minister" of Philip ... Read review

A great monument
Review of Puerta de Alcalâ by panx74

Advantages: Nice
Disadvantages: Anyone

I´m going to write about a wonderful Gate of Madrid. I hope you like it and of course I want to apologize for my level of English. The city Madrid is the capital of Spain. It is in the centre of Spain, and although there are remains of a human settlements before the Roman Empire, Madrid become the capital of the country and of the Great Spanish Empire in 1561, when the king Philip the second moved all his family and employees from Toledo ...
...new wonderful buildings have been made. Nowadays is an important city for cultural and business tourism, and its weather is loved by everyone who visits it. History of the monument In the sixteenth century, Madrid was a city rounded by a wall made with not very strong materials build to avoid the uncontrolled growth of the city and to have a control of the goods that were taken into the city. There were some gates at this wall. The king ... Read review

La Plaza Mayor - deberias visitarlo?
Review of Plaza Mayor by edward_stapleton

Advantages: Beautiful surrounding, nice shops, good food at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Not really in the league of some of the museums, too many people exhibiting themselves

The Plaza Mayor is one of the most beautiful squares in the city of Madrid. It is surrounded by buildings, which are mostly around three or four stories high. On the ground floor of most of these buildings, there are restaurants and shops. The restaurants sell good food at fairly reasonable prices. The Plaza Mayor bustles with life and vigour; many people can be found exhibiting themselves, having sprayed themselves with silver paint and other such ...
...nearest metro station to the Plaza Mayor is Sol. Personally, I believe that the Plaza Mayor is a fantastic place to visit over lunch one day, where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings on the 'terrazas' in the square. However, if you are short for time and skip seeing it, I don't think that the Plaza Mayor is something that you will go home wishing you had of seen. ... Read review

Retiro Park, Madrid's best
Review of Parque de El Retiro by Writing321

Advantages: Huge park, architectural wonders
Disadvantages: no English language signs

...centre of Madrid, Spain. Parque de El Retiro, is dubbed as the cities most important historic/artistic park and a visit around its 130 hectares (320 acres) proves this just has to be so. I went on my own and spent the whole time telling myself how silly I would have been not to have included it in my Madrid ramblings. Built for Spanish King Phillip to complement his 1632 Real Sitiodel Beun Retiro Palace, Retiro Park was opened to the public in ...
...Hop on Hop Off buses. A king and his family were the reason Retiro Parque came into existence and it is now a right royal place to visit, you don't need a regal invitation, it is free, near the heart of the city and a must when in Madrid. ... Read review
