First of all I must advice you that i,m spanish but i willl try that you understand me.Sorry for my primitive english
Madrid is the first city in Spain(the second one is Barcelona).
There´s living there around the 4.500.000 natives(much of them are not madrilians because(like London i suppose)
there are a "mix "of people it,s a cosmopolitan cityin wich every stranger are wellcome.Much of them comes from South America(Spain is for these people the Modern Native country). Its situated just in the center of spain. Some interesting places too in frontier with Madrid are Toledo,Segovia ,Avila..

The city has a culture reflected on old monuments like Museo del prado,Palacio real,Pza de la villa,Catedral de la almudena(there is not the best cathedral of spain;there is much better I have to recognize it but it,s very handsome too),"Puerta de alcala","Plaza Mayor", just examples, the "plaza de toros of las ventas" but please, only a few spanish are fan of bulls..I feel (like so many spanishs)shame of this spectacle(Rings of bulls:NO)"El monasterio de El Escorial"in the abroad of city it,s commendable to visit. In the abroad too it,s commendable Aranjuez and his "Palacio de Aranjuez".
There is a lot of interesting museums ,not only "El prado";for example "Museo thyssen","Museo Reina sofia"both near Atocha,"Museo arqueológico"....,"Museo de cera"jeje this is a collection of famous people built in wax.
The tourists who decided come a few days have a lot of hotels to choose and now, with the olympic games in 2012 more(And the winner is...maybe London,Moscu who knows? My favourite is..haha you can imagine).
There,s also modern buildings in the "Paseo de la castellana"near the Real Madrid stadium for example "the torres kio";they are inclined (like "torre de Pissa"in Italia)but the inclination is disposed jeje and modern.Unfourtenly one of this sky-scraper were totally in flames recently.,"la torre Windsor"(no vicitims uff).
There,s a street with abundance of cinemas:"la Gran Via" and also"calle fuencarral".
We can,t forget one the most famous and classic shop in spain always:"El corte inglés"(translate:the english cut?) but don´t mind the name :it,s a spanish shop and it,s situated in "La puerta del sol"(the center of the city very popular here)though there is more in other zones(in"Goya",in"Nuevos ministerios..")One default:it,s a little expensive.
In madrid we have the opportunities of enjoy great concerts of stranger artists:U2,REM,Keane(tomorrow),coldplay,Muse,Cranberries,Radiohead,Red hot chili peppers..well a long list.
The weather:well,in this dry city rains less that in England jaja but it has two extremes.Very hot in summer and cold in winter. we had not a beach(sniff..)so the temperature can,t be very soft.
One of the characterisc of the city is the great number of bar-rooms in all the city. One of the most famous(but not the best of course)is the "Museo del jamon" cheap and tipycal spanish with a lot of hams exposed and hanged. There are also much interesting places of what to eat,to have a drink. One of the most visited for tourists it,s "viva Madrid"in front of "teatro español".
There´s too a lot of churchs.
The water that we drink here it,s one of the best of Europe,it´s true.. but also we have a rough city.(Pros & cons haha)
Of course there is a long catalogue of ,theathers("Teatro español","Teatro Real","teatro de la comedia","tetro dela Zarzuela"..)
In Madrid,in Spain in general the nights are with animation in week-end;people go out in until high hours by night. We have the fame of be a little "night walker".
Some of the most populars zones to go in night is in the center of town:Tribunal,Huertas,Bilbao and for gays,Chueca

The city has got a modern metropolitan;well i don,t know how is in other citys of europe so i think its much better than the metro of Paris.(but i have to recognize that Paris is more beautiful than Madrid even).

Well maybe i will add something more in a future.Sorry ,it,s my first review and it,s not easy to me write in english:If i could write in spanish ..i propose you to write a review in spanish jeje (it,s a joke)
