We have been on a few holidays with the little one and she wanted her own bag to take on the plane and I knew straight away which one I was getting her, the trunki. My mum brought it for her for her birthday and she loved it and it has now been on a couple of holidays and is used every time she goes to stay at someone house which is at least once every two weeks so is regularly used.

You are probably thinking what makes this child bag stand out from the rest of the bags out there. This bag was designed to be light and up to the maximum size a hand luggage for a plane can be. What makes it so special is that it is made from a strong light plastic, has a moulded seat as part of the case, has four wheels at the bottom, two little horns at the top which act as handles and a strap that is detachable. Your little one then sits on the trunki, holds on to the horn while you can pull them along. This is great when you have no buggy and your gate is the furthest one away when you are going on holiday. Or instead of pulling them along they can propel themselves with their little legs. It also means you always have a seat for your child like when you are queuing or when you are waiting some where and there are no seats and they are they tired but to heavy to hold, they can place their little bum on their trunki and rest.

It also has a handle at the top so you can carry it around. It has two catches one either side which are lockable using a key at the end of the main strap. 'The main strap is adjustable so you can throw it over you shoulder when it comes necessary for you to carry over your shoulder which I find is very rare. Also so the little one does not hurt their little fingers when closing the case the whole of the edge of the case is rubber. When you open it up you will notice straps on one side which they call teddy bear seatbelts but really they are there to hold in what ever you put there when you close it up. The best way to describe these straps is like the ones usually get in normal suitcase and do up the same way. There is a cloth pouch which goes across the bottom which easily unhooks and hooks on. There are two little compartments which are called hidden compartments but you can not get anything big in them, you can get money or hairbands in them that’s it, and they are hard to open which is the only down fall on this product. On the strap there is also an ID label which you can fill in with your details.

It weighs about 1.7kg and is roughly 40 x 20 x 32 cm big which is roughly 18 litres in size. It is very easy to clean just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it is done. It is designed for children between 3 and 6 years old to sit in it but depending on the actually size of your child you can just use this as guide lines, as it takes up to 50kg in weight.

Every child that comes to my home lands up playing with it so you get a bag and toy in one. My niece loved it so much we got one for her second birthday and loved it as she now has her own.

You can find them in most good luggage shops, John Lewis and Amazon. You can also buy direct from them at www.trunki.co.uk.

Depending on what version you get depends what the price it will be on average they are either £30 or £35. At present there are 5 different versions out there and they all have names. The £30 ones are Towgo which is a lime green, Trixie which is pink and Terrance which is blue. The £35 ones are Tipu which is made to look like a tiger and Harley which is made to look like a ladybird. The £35 are limited edition so are one made for a while, we have one called Frieda which is made to look like a cow and is no longer made but is still available in some stores.

It maybe a bit on the expensive side but I feel it is well worth the money and would recommend it to everyone highly. It is light, easy to clean, act as a seat and is a toy in rolled in to one, what more could you ask for.

People may also recognise this item from the Dragon’s Den program.
