Advantages: Fabulous decor; impeccable customer service; Disadvantages: I had to leave!
Last week my boyfriend turned 26 and I wanted to surprise him and take him away somewhere swanky for a short break. We both work very hard and long hours so I was after somewhere where we could relax and switch off from everything for a couple of days and just feel a bit pampered. After lots of research, Dublin seemed like the ideal place and after checking out some reviews on tripadvisor, The Dylan hotel looked like the perfect choice, being rated the 2nd best hotel in the city.
The Dylan is a 5 star boutiquehotel based slightly outside of Dublin's main centre in a 19th-century townhouse that used to house the nurses of the nearby hospital. It's located on the South side of town by the canal in a quiet side street in a residential part of town, so you're unlikely to be bothered by any noise, but is a quick and very straightforward ...
The Plaka Hotel is a real find. It is ideally situated at the foot of the Acropolis and is amongst ,or within easy walking distance, of many of Athens attractions. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and the accomodation is generally clean and modern. Our room was quite small but not so much that it was a problem. There was an adequate amount of storage space. The bathroom was small and a bit dated but ok, considering the price! We paid £33 a night for a double room with breakfast and thought this was a real bargain. Make sure you compare sites for prices as they vary considerably.
The breakfast was quite basic but included ...
Advantages: Lots of honest reviews on interesting hotels Disadvantages: Hotels can be quite expensive to stay at
** Please note that this review is on volume 2, which is not the book in the picture**
Mr and Mrs Smith is essentially a travel guide, but not in the same way the AA is a travel guide. This book only looks at a handful of hotels and they must be 4 or 5 * or boutiquehotels.
It is a very stylish book and can be picked up at most book shops for about £20 ? £25. You may think this is quite expensive, but an added benefit is that in every book you receive a Mr and Mrs Smith card. All you have to do is register the card on the website and it allows you to receive free gifts and discounts at the hotels they feature, both in the book and on their website www.mrandmrssmith.com.
The book starts with an introduction from the people at Mr and Mr Smith and explain that is has been going for nearly 5 years now. On the second page is where ...
