I bordered briefly on this shopping centre in my general review of Maidstone, but having found it in a category of its own, I couldn’t resist the chance to enlarge on my feelings about this heap of bricks and mortar, the building of unreached potential that blights my home town.

Heaven or Hell Review ofMaidstone Chequers Centre (London)by
wiggglypufff
Advantages: Reasonable selection of shops Disadvantages: Generally drab apperance
...unfortunately Kents county town of Maidstone fails to provide anything remotely close in its shopping centre.
~ Known a number of years ago as the Stoneborough Centre, realistically the only thing that has changed with the times is the name. A small amount of refurbishment was carried out in the transition from Stoneborough to Chequers. Some additional escalators were added, and some skylight roofing fitted in places, but the main features stayed ... ...carparking. Confused? I’ve shopped in Maidstone nearly all my life and it still confuses me!
~ The ground floor shopping experience is rather disappointing. The largest unit is Wilkinsons. A cheap and cheerful ’department store’ that you will inevitabley find over crowded and understaffed. Shop there only if you have a spare half hour to queue at the till to pay. There is a shoe repairer/key cutters, and dry cleaners on the ground ...

A good whinge Review ofMaidstone Chequers Centre (London)by

Advantages: the pleasent moments buying something and enjoying it Disadvantages: when you get in trouble because you cannot do nothing with the product, pay attention for the gifts receipts
The law is on your side when comes to goods and services that you don’t feel satisfied as a consumer, and therefore complaints from consumers cannot be ignored, even taking into consideration that sometimes this is what still happen. Purchasing gifts could be a headache, that's why I did place this opinion right here.
“Hello, customer services?
All our operators are busy at the moment, please press 1 to wait, press…and press”.
... ...someone you should ask for the receipt? The receipt should be marked with the word gift and signed by the retailer at the time of your purchase just in case something goes wrong with the product you’ve purchased. Normally I do ask for the receipts for all my purchases but when I have to buy a gift for especial occasion the retailer never marked the receipt as previously mentioned and I get the receipt as a normal purchase. The retailers are ...

Whats going on Review ofMaidstone Chequers Centre (London)by
Kelmisty
I've lived in Maidstone 7 years almost now and I am shocked at the quality of the Chequers centre it has really gone down hill!
Firstly the shops keep changing more often than I visit the place! Its dirty, they've introduced a no smoking policy which I agree with but when they've put up tiny little signs and are not inforcing the policy they introduce. What is the point of introducing it?
The security men are no where to be seen these days to control ... ...centre.
What with the High street being knocked down to bring this new Fremlins Centre, you'd believe that they would improve some of the shops with in the centre. Such as the Cheap stall shops that have moved into the empty shops. Well down to the people who own them, but perhaps improving the appearance of the shops they work in, would help.
The Car park machines will not take £5 or £10 notes and without spending money you may not want to spend ...
