Nestling close against a curve in the River Medway,Kent's primary waterway, and only a comparatively short distance away from Maidstone-the county town of Kent, the Museum of Kent Life at Cobtree, reflects very well the unique character of this part of England. My husband who is from Kent always sings the virtues of his home county and for visitors the Museum of Kent Life is a great haunt to get an insight into Kent and its long history.
The Museum is set in a highly attractive 50 acre site in the heart of the so-called "Garden of England". It seems to me to successfully draw together many strands of Kent's very rich heritage.
There is a first rate collection of historic buildings which now feature interactive exhibitions, a working farm, orchards, hop, herb and kitchen gardens, riverside and country walks, special events, tearooms and a shop. The latter is well stocked and its worthwhile having a good browse around.
It is a nice place for a family day out and it is located just 5 minutes journey time from Maidstone, 35 minutes from Canterbury,20 minutes from Ashford and around one hour from London.
Admission prices to the Museum are currently 4.50 pounds whilst children aged 5-15 years, senior citizens and full time students get in for 3.00 pounds.
It has a web site which is http://www.museum-kentlife.co.uk

Good op, I love it here. At certain times of the year they hold special events here, eg real ale festival, hop picking. You missed out one of my fave bits though in your op - the replica kitchen from the TV series the 'Darling Buds of May' which was filmed in Kent. I used to love that programme! Claire

Thanks a lot. I'm told the place is constantly improving and updates its attractions often.
