Nice hotel, be aware of transportation issues

Advantages: Nice rooms
Disadvantages: Transportation

Location: The hotel it's situated in the north part of the Bucharest, which it's the nicest are and, of course, the most expensive. There is a lot of greenery here, lots of parks and lakes. The hotel is situated on the shore of Tei Lake and the vegetation around it really gives it a very nice look. Both airports in Bucharest are in the north part so the hotel it's only 10 minutes away from the Baneasa Airport (used more by low cost companies) and about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the traffic, to the Otopeni Airport (commercial airlines). Very good location, however be aware that public transportation is not handy. To go and come from the hotel you will most likely have to use a taxi, which can be costly at times, depending on the distance. Make sure you ask the reception to call a company cab for you, private taxi are a rip off ...

Review of Caro Hotel, Bucharest

Majestic, a little tatty but ok!

Advantages: Splendid hotel in the old style
Disadvantages: Why do they have to charge for parking for residents?

We have just returned from Harrogate after spending a lovely 3 nights at this hotel in lovely spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so I will try to review this hotel and the town as accurately as I can and would advise others to visit this place as it is a lovely way to spend a few days of relaxation and retail therapy! The hotel is easily located at the Northern edge of the town on a hill above the exhibition halls. It is very imposing and hails from the grand old style of hotel, large and imposing and very Victorian in character. We opted for a "leisure break" booked through Paramount's own website. The deal was for a premier double on DB&B board including access to the "bodysense" pool and gym. On arrival we were greeted by the head porter who took our luggage as the rooms are not ...

Bucharest - don't overlook it!

Advantages: Lots to see and do, loads of cultural and historical stuff, fairly cheap
Disadvantages: Traffic, lots of concrete

the National Gallery of Art and contains an impressive collection of work by noted Romanian artists which I enjoyed immensely in spite of knowing little about Romanian artists. There is also a small collection of work by very well knowns artists such as El Greco, Reubens and Renoir. Nearby is the Bucharest Hotel Inter-Continental from where foreign journalists covered the events and were able to film some footage of the violence. On this street there are ten stone crosses dedicated to those who lost their lives. Just beyond it is Piata Universitatii which was buzzing when we visited during July as students were hovering outside university buildings waiting for exam results to be posted. Of course, there is much more to Bucharest than the revolution. After all, this is the city that used to be called "Little Paris" and "The Paris of the East". In ...
