Advantages: Location, atmosphere, view Disadvantages: Price of food, size of standard rooms
...I stayed at the ParkPlaza Hotel in Leeds in August 2006 simply for one night, as a little luxury and a change of scenery. We chose the ParkPlaza as it was quite affordable for the little bit of luxury that it offers in comparison to other hotels in Leeds.
The hotel is located on Boar Lane in Leeds which is simply across the road from the train station, so its location is great for commuters or people on an overnight stay in Leeds, as it is also down the road from the bus station and there is also a bus stop at the train station that goes all the way to Leeds Bradford Airport.
The hotel is about 20 storeys high, located over the "Manias" - Wokmania, Spicemania and Pizzamania, as well as bar Scene and Chino Latino which are attached to the hotel and I assume part of its amenities. It's a very modern block and we stayed...

Advantages: Luxurious, accomodating and friendly staff, family friendly, excellent location Disadvantages: High chair was too trendy for our baby
...After a very busy first year of marriage, without any kind of holiday (terrorists decided that the day we were meant to go for our honeymoon was the perfect day to cause worldwide mayhem). We decided that we really needed to go away at least for a few days on a short city break and decided on Antwerp as a good destination.
Reasons being:
We could go on the Eurostar (thereby no popping ears for our baby - aged 7 months at the time)
It is reasonably close to London
There are Jewish facilities (synagogues for regular prayers, kosher restaurants to eat in)
We found a good deal on staying in what seemed like a very plush hotel - the Astrid ParkPlaza
There seemed to be an aquarium to visit, amongst other things to do (Aquatopia - absolutely brilliant, hopefully I'll write a review of it too)
We booked a Monday to Thursday trip...

Advantages: easy to find, near to everything, little bit of luxury Disadvantages: none
...i stayed at the parkplaza for a night a year ago with my boyfriend.
it isn't the cheapest in leeds, but you get what you pay for!
it's really easy to get to, straight across from the train station, and near all the nightlife, shops and resteraunts. we didnt go to the resteraunt in the hotel, but the bar was pretty good, expensive as you'd expect though.
the room was great!!! all black & white, really big bed, nice posh bathroom with a really deep bath. lots of wardrobe space too.
the staff were nice but very trendy, looked like they should be hairdressers or working in topshop.
overall it was really nice, and worth the money. definately recommended, especially if you're there for a few days...
