Heaven in Majorca Advantages: Quiet location, lovely hotel, brilliant food, private beach. Our hotel was located in the town of Illetas (to the west of the island) which is advertised as one of the most exclusive resorts on the island. It took about 20 minutes to get to from the airport by taxi and on the numerous occasions we visited Palma the taxi took a mere 15 minutes. The town itself is in stark contrast to the neighbouring resorts of Magaluf and Palma, it's calm and tranquil. Hotel Armadams, Palma de Mallorca Advantages: Well presented, friendly, welcoming, modern Disadvantages: On a back street We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even ... ...delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. We had a view looking out at the flats opposite, but a sneaky view between the buildings to the goregous marina opposite. Features of the room were also impressive, with a mini bar, television with variety of channels, telephone, temperature control which was handy at all times of the day hot or cold. Expensive but certainly value for money Advantages: Plenty to do, excellent food, friendly staff, nice area Disadvantages: Costly ...area too, with the other Protur sites close by where you can use their facilites too. There is a small raod train which will take you to the next two towns, where there are even more shops and bars etc to choose from if you fancy a day or night out. All in all an excellent place. So much so that we are trying Vista Badia this time. Part of the Protur complex it is self catering, so a cheaper option, but we still get to use all the facilities including ... Melia Pala Atenea Palma de Majorca Advantages: Ideal for a relaxing break. Disadvantages: 30 minute walk to the beach if that's your thing ...but have used the Sol Melia Group throughout Spain before. The hotel is located on the Paseo Maritimo in Palma and has excellent views over the marina and Bay of Palma and is about a 20 minute stroll to the centre of Palma. Ideal for visiting the bars and restuarants of the old town at night and the beautiful city of Palma during the day. There is also a good range of bars, cafes etc along the Paseo Maritimo if the 20 minute walk is an issue. The ... ...had plenty of space and the best pool bar staff I've met in a long time. Once they got to know you nothing was a problem and the standard of service was friendly and relaxed. The level of staff service throughout the hotel cannot be faulted. Butlins in the sun! Advantages: Plenty to do, good entertainment, great for children Disadvantages: Some shabby accommodation, expensive supermarket Firstly I must say that I booked this very last minute when there wasn't much more around, and after reading a lot of very mixed reviews, I decided that we would just put our heads down and go for it, and even though we got off to a bad start, I am relatively glad that we did. The Bouganvilla Aparthotel is situated on the East coast of Mallorca in Sa Coma. There is a 1 hour transfer from Palma Airport (1hr 45 mins if the coach drops off along the ... ...back see a bit of the Island. On arrival, our check in was very simple. We were given a room number and a map to direct us to our apartment and as we were staying all inclusive, our wrist bands were put on (silver for U18's, blue for the drinkers!) ~~Accommodation~~ When we entered our room, I really could have cried.
