Review of Hotel Acorn Sumba, Cala Millor by
Poplarman
Advantages: Great Location, good facilities
Disadvantages: Poor Restaurant
No doubt about it the Hotel Sumba (twinned with Hotel Borneo next door) is perfectly located in the nice resort of Cala Millor.
The pool area is very good while the beach is even better - being occupied mainly by German visitors it was easy to get a nice straw umbrella on the beach - the Germans preferred the pool. There's an adequate indoor pool and a nice jacuzzi, For kids there is a pool table, ping-pong table, video game area and hobby club ... ...and ice cream/lollies.
The hotel is let down by its reastaurant. Tables are crowded into a too-small space and you can find yourself sharing a table with others. We complained on first being shown to our table but the Maitre de Hotel's attitude was "take it or leave it". The food is very plentiful but sadly very poor - all the fish tasted the same (no taste in fact), none of the meat was of any quality and all over-cooked. If you like cheese & ham ...

Very friendly hotel with nice atmosphere
Review of Hotel Talayot, Cala Millor by
antonio79
Advantages: Family-friendly, lovely staff, beautiful views, nice setting
Disadvantages: Lacks the space of some larger hotels
The Hotel Talayot is a place I have been to regularly since I was 5 years old, and that wasn't yesterday! The hotel stands out from all others with its square block stance and white and brown paintwork. It perhaps isn't the most aesthetically pleasing but it is a fantastic hotel with a lot of character and is worth a visit if you are planning on staying in this area.
I have to say that the atmosphere is the most pleasing thing about the Talayot. ... ...overlooking the Mediterranean. The hotel is located right on the seafront.
The food is lovely and there is a wide variety at dinner time. You can then relax in one of the bars the hotel has and sit back on the large veranda overlooking the sea, listening to the waves crash against the land in the darkness. It's a lovely setting.
The resort of Cala Millor is itself well equipped for the needs of the tourist yet it maintains a calmness that will ...

Great holiday at the Sol Trinidad
Review of Sol Trinidad, Palma de Majorca by
starjen
Advantages: Location, location, location
Disadvantages: Noisy for some guests
...July and stayed at the Sol Trinidad hotel in Magaluf. We have been to Magaluf in the past and stayed at a Sol hotel which we really liked and so decided to give this one a go. We booked it off teletext and stayed half-board. The hotel has 375 rooms spread over 9 floors, we had a pool view room on the forth floor which was quite handy as the two (very small!) lifts were out of action a few times and I was grateful for only having to climb four flights ... ...across the road to the beach, and the road along the front of the hotel has lots of shops (clothes, souvenirs, booze, fags etc) and the road behind mainly bars and BCM the major nightclub where Radio 1 were doing there live weekend while we were there. It is a 5 minute walk to the strip where all the really lively bars and clubs are.
We arrived at about 11.30am in the morning and had a short queue at reception to be served by the miserable receptionist, ...

Playa Moreia, S'illot
Review of Playa Moreia, S'Illot by
thedavosgang
Advantages: Great base for the beach, shops and everything
Disadvantages: Inflatables in the pool,
Lovely place, right on the beach. We didn't have a sea view, but the rooms at the back of the complex have air conditioning, which was much needed!! The pool could be better, it's a lovely big pool which a smaller one for toddlers, but they allow inflatables in, so you could have a dinghy or half a dozen lilo's in there and suddenly there isn't much room for swimming. This is the only place i've EVER been to that allow inflatables in the pool, so ... ...rooms are basic, we were in a one bedroomed apartment which was fine. Maid service ok, dont really do a lot, change the towels every other day, empty the bins and that's about it. We didn't even have our bedding changed for the whole 2 weeks!!! It's an ideal place for a base, right on the beach, at the end of a road. Shops, bars, restaurants etc all within easy reach, just a short walk away. We had a hire car and it was great to be able to get out ...

Expensive but certainly value for money
Review of Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa, Sa Coma by
Musicbox
Advantages: Plenty to do, excellent food, friendly staff, nice area
Disadvantages: Costly
...area too, with the other Protur sites close by where you can use their facilites too. There is a small raod train which will take you to the next two towns, where there are even more shops and bars etc to choose from if you fancy a day or night out.
All in all an excellent place. So much so that we are trying Vista Badia this time. Part of the Protur complex it is self catering, so a cheaper option, but we still get to use all the facilities including ...
