We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral. Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, has Bull Ring.
I've not even been back a week, but feels like months ago that I went to Malaga. Back in the cold and gloom!
I have never been to Spain before, and the decission was partly due to availability. I was waiting on the return of my Passport from Passport House, and so no holiday could be booked until then. I booked online at about midnight on 11/01/03, and we flew out at 6.25am on 12/01/03. So no time to buy phrase book, or learn any lingo! ... ...I advise anything, it's take a phrase book. On our return a friend kindly told me that you will deffinately have more fun out there if you can speak some Spanish. (Thanks, that's real helpful now!) Once out there, we could not find any Phrase Books, and did not even find a Guide Book in English until our third day! I felt held back by this, and would deffinately want to know some minimal Spanish at least, next time. (Oh yes, I want to return, maybe ... more

We flew into Malaga Airport from Gatwick, and arrived there at 10.15am (their time)The Airport was pretty quite, probably due to it being sunday morning! There was no staffed info desk, or anything written in English that we could see. So we headed out the front with cases in hand, to try and figure out what to do. Spotted a bus stop to the right of the main arrivals exit, and walked over. Buses run every 30mins into the centre of Malaga and it only costs 1 Euro. (However it was pretty full with people and cases, so we ended up sat on our cases.)
Just as you leave the confines of the Airport you will pass the San Miguel factory, for those of you who care! (Which I beleave you can tour.)
Once we had arrived in Malaga centre we sat and had a coffee in the Bus depo cafe, and looked over a list of Hotels and map the lady from the Information Desk at the Bus station had given us.(Much more helpful than the airport!) We quickly chose one within our budget, walked literally around the corner from where we were, and checked in. The good thing about going this time of year, is that even if you don't have accomadation booked, you will deffinately be able to get what you want once there.
Our Hotel was only supposed to be 1 Star, but we thought it was great! Not the Grande Vere or anything, but nice and clean with friendly staff.(None of which spoke English though) It also had a En suite with shower and bum-wash etc.
Bags dumped, we were ready to explore. We were in the New part of Malaga, which had the Bus station, an Underground station, Cinema, many Shops, Restaurants and Bars, as well as the Larios shopping centre. Larios Centro is huge! It has 125 shops, restaurants and a cinema. Oh yeah, and a Supermarket downstairs. You could easily spend a day just in there! Generally though I found this part of Malaga quite dirty and noisy.
It is one of the largest cities in Spain and is known as the capital of the Costa Del Sol. It has 6000,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by mountains which protect it from the cold from the interior.
I prefered old Malaga, were the buildings are outstaningly beautiful and there is a much slower pace. The shops wind all through many little lanes here, and reminded me quite alot of shopping in the Lanes in Brighton, at home. There are more bars and restaurants here, and alot more with English Menu's than in the part were we were staying!
The Cathedral is in Old Malaga, and it must be seen while you are there! I'm not religous, but feeling of awe this building gives you is amazing. Sta. Inglesia Cathedral has recently been restored, and you can have a look around inside for the bargain price of 2 Euro's. It is full of sacred art, paintings, altar pieces and statues by, Ventura Rodriguez, Nino de Guevara, Alonso Cano and Claudio Cello. (Are they famous?)
There is a square called Plaza De La Merced lined with bars and eateries which I believe in the Summer is extremly busy with tourists drinking etc. This is just at the foot of the hill where the Gibralfaro Castle is situated.(Castillo de Gibralfaro) The castle was built between the XI and XIV centuries, and is one of Spain's most complete.
Close by there is a Roman Theatre (Teatro Romano) which is in the process of being re-built. Opposite which is the site for the new Picasso museaum, in the process of being built. This is due to the fact that this is were Picasso used to live and you can even visit his old house. (Casa natal de Picasso)
Also near to here is the dock, which at sunset can look pretty stunning on it's own, complete with working Lighthouse(Farola). The lovely tropical park runs along parallel to the dock road, and if sat in the middle of it, you wouldn't know you were in a city. It has amazing oversized plants (subtropical to be precise!), and a small, clean kids play-park in the middle.
The Bull Ring is near here, but that is all I am willing to write about it! :(
There are numerous beautiful churches dotted around the city: Iglesia de San Juan, Iglesia de Santiago. Iglesia del Sagrario and Iglesia de Los Martires to name but a few.
Other impressive buildings are: Baroque style Ayuntamiento (City Hall) and the Palacia de Justica (Law Courts) both the work of architect Guerrero Strachan.
I found the people generally friendly, but a few seemed not so. Maybe due to our complete lack of knowledge of their language, perhaps? As it was when trying to communicate that they became less friendly. One couple we treid to speak to for directions, just walked off! Didn't give us a second glance, and of course this was at our 'lost' point in the trip!
We did check the beach out even though it wasn't really hot and it was pleasent and clean, with lots of shells to pick up! We had an early evening stroll along it one night before our tea, and it was most relaxing. The shells are so much more colourful than ours, lots of rich oranges, browns and even purple.
I loved my time here and will deffinately be going back to Spain!!
Valleys that seem postal alpine, broken throats and like forests, rumorosos mountain rivers, abundant rains, shady forests of firs, flocks of eagles... all adorned it with the whitest pueblecitos of Andalusia. I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience. Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and ... ...a lot of people - there is a lift though. Another good point was the shops, they were open very late and when i was there, there were lots of sales on in good shops, Malaga has good shops like zara. A bad point in my opinion was the entertainment, we went at peak season and there wasnt a lot to do, and not much going on for families. The eating out part, there probally wasnt much of one, we didnt find one nice place to eat, just the typical tapas ...

I go to Malaga about 2 times a year as my partners father lives over there. This is the first and only place that i have been abroad so my review is only based on this country as i have not been to any others apart from england of corse!!!
The weather is amazing but obiviously it depends where you are as my partners parents live up a mountain!! so it mostly really hot but it can also be cloudy!! I haven't been out there yet when it hasn't been cloudy. ... ...humid or hard to breath!! Its just fantastic warm weather!! If you haven't been abroad before the experience is amazing, the veiws are unbeleivable mountains everywhere! clear blue seas and its just amazing how they build villages just about anywhere!!! It really is something you have to see for yourself its hard to describe the feeling you get when you see the amazing views!!
Most of the times that we have been out there it has been the Spanish ...

Advantages: quiet, pretty lanscapes, value for money, nice friendly people, relaxing, good amount of sunshine all year Disadvantages: not a destination for everyone, need to know a little of the lingo, not very well developed area yet!
The first visit to this area was last september 2003. Both my husband and myself fell in love with the area. Although it is not a holiday for everyone. It will be a up and coming area of malaga in the future. We bought a 2 bed apartment in april 2004 on the urbanization torrox park for 117,000 euro as we were impressed by the area and the quality of the building work that was being undertaken on the site.
The site itself has a main pizza eating ... ...steak is a must for meat eaters. There are several small shops which sell everything from food to beach wear.
On the site is also a camping area for tents, caravans, and log cabins. This has excellent facilities which include a clubhouse serving food and drinks, Internet connection, sky tv, pool table and they also serve sunday lunch and have theme nights.
The urbanization part includes apartments, bungalows, small 3 bed houses which have communal ...

Advantages: Pleasant treatment and much diversion Disadvantages: The Cortijo de Torres is very far
The truth is that I am Sevillian, but for that reason I am not going to criticize the fair negatively, because it would be to me impossible. It is a great fair and him little can be criticized, only one thing that already I will say more down. This summer I have been in Malaga of vacations and Malaga has enchanted to me. It did not come by very pequeñito capital Malaga from and the truth that is as if it was the first year that I come because I see ... ...what I have known and then I will save myself to describe it. Good then when it came me in the afternoons from the beach it showered and that to me that does to er world comé no. Later, being in fair said I and what we do now? then to go to the fair of Malaga. But to go (and this is the unique one beats that I see) you must take a bus because the fair is in the outskirts (Cortijo de Torres calls it). And good the first day sorpredió for seeing that ...

In December last year my wife and I were booked on a Thomson flight only as a return journey from Malaga, Spain, to Doncaster\ Sheffield airport. We arrived at Malaga airport at least 2 hours before departure time, only to find that the flight had been cancelled. No explanation was given and there was no one there to advise. We were left with no alternative but to pay for a later flight via Easyjet. This went to Nottingham (East Midlands) Airport, and we had to pay extra for a rearranged pickup. We paid e273 for the flight and £40 for the rearranged pickup. Before departure from Malaga we had tried unsuccessfully to contact Thomson - both by telephone and web search - to confirm the return flight times. Other passengers had experienced the same problems. We later learned that some abandoned passengers had been booked and paid for flights ...

Airtours International are a very good customer focussed company as experienced on a return flight from Malaga Airport, Spain. When a fault on one of their planes put the plane out of action, a replacement was found in enough time to prevent any delay on take off.
Cabin crew were excellent, very friendly all throughout the flight.
This was the first time that I had flown with Airtours international and I will definately fly with them again. I was so impressed that I have told my friends and family that when they fly in the future, always fly with Airtours. I have even advised a friend of mine - who wont go on a plane - to try with Airtours as they will help overcome any fears in flying. ...
Advantages: quick and efficient Disadvantages: Are prone to staff shortages so can be delays
Just been on holiday to Spain (manchester to Malaga) with Easyjet. Have to be honest far better than Ryanair. Check in desks take luggage for all different flights ( no going to one desk and forming one big long queue). If you can get the speedy boarding option, then get it as it is worth paying that bit extra, as your first on the plane, so have choice on seats. However, if you book in a bit earlier and are in the first 30 passengers you get on as group A ,which is the next group on after speedy boarding. So no long, huge queue like ryanair. The only thing is that when I booked I was told that no Speedy boarding available at Manchester, but when we got there people were getting on under that heading (don't know how!!!) Staff were really friendly and drink, food was fine for short haul flight. Good luggage allowance of 20kg per hold ...
