Borneo is a state of Malaysia and so I have put it under the Malaysia section. Although English is not the first language it is commonly spoken out there and we never had any problems speaking in English to anyone.

Genting Highlands is one of the most famous integrated entertainment resort in Malaysia. It is located 58 kilometres away from Kuala Lumpur (only about an hour's ride) and as it is high up on the mountain, the air is cool and temperature is lower compared to Kuala Lumpur. Langkawi is a small island one hour plane direct to the International airport from Kuala Lumpur. You can fly direct from the UK if you wish with Malaysia airlines, but from KL you can get cheap flights using Air Asia (the equivalent to Easijet). You walk from the plane to the modern terminal in Langkawi and from here you are easily accessible to all parts of the island. The main town Kuah is approx 45 minutes drive.
