Taking on the Unknown Like Never Before

Advantages: Amazing and beautiful country
Disadvantages: Hospital visits

Borneo is a state of Malaysia and so I have put it under the Malaysia section. Although English is not the first language it is commonly spoken out there and we never had any problems speaking in English to anyone. This review is slightly different to normal, rather than a review of the country its my experience of my time in that country, what I did and how I felt which is why it comes under Malaysia experience. WARNING: This experience was a month ...
...October 2005 World Challenge came to our school and told us that we had a chance to go to Malaysia for a month where we would do charity work, trekking and much more. Reluctant I did not sign up to go, however soon after realising all my friends would be going and feeling rather jealous I decided to go. I was placed into team one which had two of my very close friends in. There were five teams altogether going to Malaysia, however a couple of months ...

Arithmetic Is Bad For Your Wealth

Advantages: A's
Disadvantages: C's

...us from the unexpectedly modern Kota Kinabalu Airport, loaded our luggage enthusiastically single handedly into his little green minibus and driven us for 10 minutes to our lodgings at the stunning Shangri La hotel, before insisting on unloading all our bags himself into the hands of the concierge service. Ordinarily I wouldn’t mind this behaviour because it saves me doing it, and he’s only doing it to supplement his income with tips. The trouble ...
...we actually preferred it. Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the Sabah region of Borneo, an area 4 times the size of Wales, although only a tiny part of Borneo itself which is so big it has to be looked after by both the Indonesian and Malaysian Governments, who own and operate about half each of the third largest island on the planet. For 15RMB (£3) we took a cab for the 15 minute journey into the centre of KK, and not being equipped with any local ...

Genting - a place for everyone

Advantages: So much to do and you will never get bored
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

Genting Highlands is one of the most famous integrated entertainment resort in Malaysia. It is located 58 kilometres away from Kuala Lumpur (only about an hour's ride) and as it is high up on the mountain, the air is cool and temperature is lower compared to Kuala Lumpur. There are a few hotels in the resort ranging from five star to budget. Genting Highlands is a place for the whole family. So much to do and you don't know where to start. I would ...
...get there: Express bus: Genting buses depart from 4 places in Kuala Lumpur. The most convenient for foreigners would be KL Sentral. KL Sentral is also the station for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport express train. Various ways to get to KL Sentral include LRT, KTM and taxi. There's a dedicated counter on 2nd floor of KL Sentral that sells the Genting bus tickets. The bus will take you to the cable car station in Gohtong Jaya and you will ...

Langkawi life

Advantages: Natural beauty, wildlife, sun, sea, food, culture, relaxing, little traffic, souvenirs
Disadvantages: Humidity, monsoon rain in wrong season, mosquitoes

Langkawi is a small island one hour plane direct to the International airport from Kuala Lumpur. You can fly direct from the UK if you wish with Malaysia airlines, but from KL you can get cheap flights using Air Asia (the equivalent to Easijet). You walk from the plane to the modern terminal in Langkawi and from here you are easily accessible to all parts of the island. The main town Kuah is approx 45 minutes drive. Here you will find the town divided ...
...area to an inside mall Langkawi Fair, which has many stores selling souvenirs and clothing, as well as a large supermarket. There is also a McDonalds there if you wish. You can then walk along next to the sea to the next shopping area where you will find most of the large banks, many shops and restaurants. The restaurants are mostly Malay style, basic plastic table and chairs but each with a different style - Chinese (selling pork), Malay and Indian. ...

Some Information About Kuala Terengganu

Advantages: Peaceful Town, Low Living Cost
Disadvantages: English is not well used by locals

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brief Introduction About Kuala Terengganu ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The history of Kuala Terengganu is quite simple and almost similar to other town's history. Starting from a small Malay fishing village and then developed into a popular business town among the Chinese and Arabs traders during Islamic golden era. This is because Kuala Terengganu is located at the strategic natural sea port at the South China ...
...Kuala Terengganu to sell their product. And Terengganu is the first place in Malaysian Peninsular that receives Islam teaching from Middle East. Kuala Terengganu at that time had been the main trading port for the east coast of the peninsular Malaysia and Southern Thailand.
