Wish I was still there!
Advantages: relaxing, friendly staff, great pool Disadvantages: expensive food
We went to this hotel in April 2008, as part of a last minute deal. Both myself and my partner thought this hotel was brilliant and would stay here again.
The first thing that surprises you about the hotel is the fact that as you cross the threshold of the hotel, they hit a gong which I think is a traditional welcome. Instead of having to stand in line at the reception desk, you get shown to a seat in the lobby while a member of staff sorts everything ... ...served with a nice glass of iced peach tea, which is just what you need after about 16 hours of traveling. We stayed in a deluxe garden view room, which was very nice. In the bathroom, you have the usual bath, shower, sink, toilet and towels. In the main room, you have the main bedroom area, then down a little step is a cute little sitting area, which leads onto the balcony which has a table and two chairs on it.
The facilities in the room include ...

Good Hotel with Good Service!
Advantages: Professional Service Disadvantages: Business Orientated
...will be held at the Sheraton Subang Hotel & Towers. In that invitation card, there was also a note telling that my relative had already booked a room for me in that hotel so that I can come for their wedding ceremony. So I decided to come and stay at the hotel. For your information the wedding that I had attended was a full Malay wedding ceremony and I took place at the Selangor Ballroom, which is the hotel's main banquet room. ++++++++++++

Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort, Kuching
Advantages: amazing location and views Disadvantages: expensive drinks
We visited the Hilton Longhouse whist on a package tour of Borneo. We stayed for 2 nights in May 2006. we wished we could have stayed longer Ciao says this is in kuching - its is about 4-6 hours drive for kuching (depending on the amount of stops you take)
The hotel is set in the middle of a big lake - the hotel provides a boat, which transports across the lake to the hotel - which takes about 20mins. the water in the lake is lovely and clean and ... ...When you arrive on the island they are a few steps to climb - the hotel is amazing, designed as a Malay Longhouse. Rooms are basic but have everything you need, clean and well mantained. They are no views of the pool but at the front of our room was a fantastic view over the lake.
As well as being able to book tours to the real longhouses and the jungle. The hotel offer free afternoon nature walks of the small island - the walk only takes a half ...

beautiful view, shame about the hairdryer
Advantages: on the waterfront, good pool, friendly service Disadvantages: dated rooms
Stayed for 4 nights with family, and were met by an army of porters and workers whose sole responsibility was to smile at us. The staff are welcoming and public areas very modern, but the rooms are bland and dated, with enormous yellow hairdryers the size of a pillow. The pool is great to unwind in the afternoon, and breakfast is a sprawling buffet of choice, with waffle, noodle, dim sum and omelette stations. We, like most other guests were there ...

Bliss in the double ensuite
Advantages: Huge room, own bathroom with bath and shower, very cheap Disadvantages: Simple breakfast, miserable receptionist, bit of a walk to bus station
...getting a cab to our hotel as there were a load of drivers calling out at us to give us a ride. It took about 15 minutes from here to get to Hotel Mingood which is in the historical Georgetown (the main town in Penang). The drive is an interesting one taking you past what is typical Malaysia - a run down and falling apart shed with washing hanging up on a line outside and a dirty dog sleeping in the mud (hard to believe this is someone's home) whilst ... ...the bus. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to a shopping centre, supermarket and New World Park which is a fab new outdoor complex (opened in January 08) with a load of restaurants ranging from expensive and fancy cuisine, affordable bars and cafes or a cheap food court. There's also a stage where entertainment is held. A 20 minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to the main road and the bus station where every bus on the island stops. On ...
