meeru was magical from landing at male it was like looking at jewels in the ocean.my husband and i went there in september 2007.the flight was good which ihad been dreading.But Meeru was worth every hour on that plane.Approaching Meeru from the speedboat was just what i imagined and more,i first the asian wok out in the water which is a wonderful restaurant which you pay for .Worth every dollar.We were greeted on the jetty by smiling happy staff ...

Just like you see in the brochures

Advantages: Complete utter paradise, beyond your dreams
Disadvantages: None

I stayed here in January 2007 and I have to say it was pure paradise. We were taken to the island by seaplane. Once we got there we were welcomed by the friendly staff who gave us a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail. Our bags were taken and we were shown our room and our bags arrived not too long after. This is what I loved about the island, the fact that it was small, and you could walk around it in 30 mins but it was quiet, peaceful and tranquil and you could find your own little quiet spot on the beach with noone else around. The way to paradise

Advantages: Great food, great people, plenty to see and do

Atoll Explorer

Advantages: laid back, lovely food,and drink brilliant staff, varyind scenery
Disadvantages: journey there

...have now been on the Atoll 3 times.The first time we had booked a week on the boat and a week on one of the Islands. THe day we were due to change over the Captain called us to his cabin and told us that our Island was over booked . He said we could stay on the boat for a further week or we could still go to the Island. 2 other couples were also made the same offer. We now think the boat was underbooked and she cannot sail with too few passengers. ...
...we had booked 2 weeks we would have paid more) On the second night of our second week a beautiful cake was brought to our table, with welcome back on it and when we went to our cabin, the beds had all been decorated with flowers and garlands. Fihalhohi Maldives is Paradise for anyone who loves the sea!

Advantages: Very quiet and beautiful, lots of excursions, fantastic house reef, family feel, diving
Disadvantages: Expensive excursions, basic nightlife, no pool, repetitive food

We went to Fihalhohi (or Fiha, as the staff call it) with First Choice, who were excellent. When we arrived after the speedboat transfer, which was fine, we were immediately struck by how peaceful and beautiful the island was. We had lunch, which like supper was rather repetitive but nevertheless tasty, and were shown to our room, which was a comfort room and was basic but very comfortable. ...but the one next to the water villas was the largest. All the beaches, especially the 'big beach' and the one outside the Blue Lagoon bar, were very soft, white sand. The pictures you take look just like the front of a holiday brochure, the sands are so white and the sea so turquoise!
