Advantages: Snorkelling - amazing house reef
Disadvantages: None - not for people who want the big plush pampered false hotel experience

We stayed at Vilamendhoo from 7th October to 22nd October 2007. It was our 2nd time to the Maldives (went to Kuredu last year for our honeymoon), and we found this island completely different to our first Maldives experience. The island is a reasonable size, and takes about 15-20 minutes to walk around it. All the accommodation looked pretty much the same, except for a few deluxe rooms (looked the same as the others), and a few rooms in the middle ...
...room 117 (we requested rooms 113 to 130 after reading other reviews) which was in a fantastic location, with a lovely beach outside the room and an excellent spot on the reef. The room was really close to the sunset bar (sitting out on the beach at night watching the shooting stars!), which was lovely, and wasn't far to the restaurant and reception. Advantages: paradise island
Disadvantages: long flight

...split into two areas the Kuredu island and Sangu. Sanguers have their own dedicated areas such as exclusive bar, restaurant and reception, but can also use all other facilities and bars. Accommodation: There are 4 different types of accommodation on the island these are the water villas, jacuzzi villas, these are more expensive and classed as part of Sangu and beach villas and beach bungalows. ...the main bar situated on Kuredu which can get quite busy and noisy. This is where they have the discos and crap racing. Then theres the Akirri bar, this is much quieter The Pool bar Golf bar, on the golf course Sangu bar, exclusivly for Sanguers. This is not that lively but can get busy. What a Fantastic little Island, Fihalhohi Island Resort is in the South Male Atoll in the Maldives. After a 10 and a half hour flight from Gatwick we landed at Male International Airport, we were escorted to the Speed boat. The transfer was only 40 minutes with views of other islands on the way. ...boat crew carried our cases. We were given a refreshing fruit drink with cool towels then filled in our registration cards. We were taken to our room by the staff who very kindly carried our heavy cases, we tipped them a few dollars for this. Our single storey beach bungalow was very nice, with a very large double bed, dressing table, bed side draws and wardrobe. There was a large ceiling fan and a good air conditioner. We went to Summer Island Village in Jan 07 for 7nights for our honeymoon. It was a holiday to remember. The scenery is surreal, better in real life than in the pictures. The waters are amazingly crystal clear and the hotel was basic but very clean. We stayed in the water bungalow which is found at one end of the island. ...small hut and 2 deck loungers. Our room had a balcony which faces the sunset and has 2 chairs. It also had a clothes line to dry your swimwear which was really handy. The room was basic and does need updating but the bed sheets are cleaned everyday and the towels are changed.
