Advantages: Diving, Snorkelling, scenery, Food, cabins everything. Disadvantages: not long enough!!
...We have just returned from an amazing holiday that was a week on the Atoll Explorer and a week on Biyadhoo. (12/8/07to 27/8/07) The previous review is very true today.
We booked through Voyages Jules Verne on their internet site. The whole holiday cost £3,390 for the two of us.
We were transfered by speedboat to the Atoll Explorer and were welcomed with a cocktail and a brief outline of the boat and itinery for the North Ari Atoll trip. The boat is perfect for both serious divers and those who snorkel or just want a relaxing holiday in the most photographic locations. It is a liveaboard dive boat.
We had booked a B cabin and had cabin 19a which had a small balcony with two chairs. Though small it was perfect with a great picture window like patio doors with air conditioning as well.

Advantages: White beaches, blue ocean, great snorkeling, total relaxation, sports facilities Disadvantages: A bit too hot for playing squash :-)
...would be a nice relaxing holiday on a beach somewhere. In the beginning of 2004 a colleague showed me the www.maldivene.no website which had some amazing pictures of Sun Island. We also have some friends that had been to Sun Island and they were kind enough to share their photos and experiences with us. The Maldives is a group of small islands located south west of India. They are located just north of the Equator and the nation is built of 1200 islands and only about 200 is inhabited. There are about 270,000 people living in the Maldives and the capital is Male’.
Because of the location it is nice and warm all year long and the average temperature is 29 to 32 degrees Celsius. The Maldives covers an area of 90.000 km...

Advantages: Feels safe. Clean. Good for a daytrip to relieve the monotony. Disadvantages: It's only a town - no scenery.
...Male is the capital of the Maldives - a chain of islands which straddle the Equator, west of India, and about one hour by air from Sri Lanka, a country with which it is often twinned in the two centre holiday market.
See from the air, Male seems curiously crowded, being an almost square island, packed to the edges with buildings, in fact its about 2km by 2km, and everyone owns a car! Arriving there by boat, (it's too small to sacrifice land for an airport), it bustles with life. The market is a friendly affair and free samples of Maldivian produce abound (at least they do if you have an official guide). If you visit the Mosque don't forget polite dress code - no shorts etc, although they will oblige and lend you a sarong (and very nice I looked in it too!). Souvenirs aren't up to much, but it's a working town, so what do you expect...
