I booked a suite at Malmaison as a surprise for my husbands 30th birthday. It was also the first time we had been away from our two small children so I was looking forward to something really special. We were shown to our room, number 121, which was quite dark but did have a separate sitting area with a television. Most hotels that I have stayed in, including Travellodges, have superkingsize beds but the bed at Malmaison was a standard kingsize. The bathroom was beautiful but a bit on the small side for a suite in a fashionable hotel. My main complaint was the firmness of the mattress. I was awake for ages in the night unable to get comfortable and ended up wakening up more tired than I was when I went to bed.
All-in-all we enjoyed spending a night away from the children in Glasgow but would think twice about our choice of hotel if we were to do it again. I was surprised that upon leaving the receptionist didn't ask whether we had enjoyed our stay or if the room was comfortable.
A lovely chic hotel but could do with some improvements.
