RIU Seabank, Mellieha Bay, Malta

Advantages: Next To The Beach
Disadvantages: Very expensive bar, expensive phone calls and rude locals

...week long stay was the RIU Seabank. As a worldwide chain I trusted the travel agent in this recommondation. In my opinion any one due to book or is thinking of booking at this hotel should read on as this hotel may not be for everyone. LOCATION The Riu Seabank is situated in Mellieha Bay, 3km downhill from Mellieha Village. Situated at the bottom of a steep hill, it is a long and tiring walk to the top if you are infirm or have children, when ...
...reach the very top. If you do not want to be tied to the hotel on an evening then this would not be the hotel for you, the local buses do terminate at 9pm and the only other method of transport is a taxi which are extremely expensive. There are only two other bars and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and no supermarket ( besides the one in the hotel which is not cheap!!!). HOTEL The Seabank is a five floor hotel, the amount of ...

Aparthotel 115 - A Surprising Success

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, reasonable location, excellent value
Disadvantages: Erratic standard of service, need to take care in tiny kitchen

...we took a chance with Aparthotel Strand 115 in the resort of Sliema which is directly across the water from the Maltese capital, Valletta (the water taxi docks nearby and gets you to Valletta in less than three minutes for less than €1 per person!). As well as checking internet reviews, we also looked at the hotels own website which looked very professional and quite upmarket. The rooms looked to be very pleasant, though, of course, clever photography ...
...of booking options from room only or room and breakfast, through to studio or studio with breakfast. We picked studio only so that we could make our own breakfast and save some money. We decided against paying the extra charge for a sea view even though some reviews suggested the alternative was quite grim. Once we’d made the booking we were emailed a booking confirmation to print off and present at check in. First impressions were good. The hotel ...

A Very Good Base For Exploring Malta

Advantages: Good facilites, reasonable price, rooftop pool.
Disadvantages: A ten minute walk from the sea front

We stayed at the three-star Sunflower Hotel in Qawra for a week in July and, for the most part, I had no complaints. The hotel was in a good location, had great facilities for its class and was comfortable and suited our needs. We booked it as part of a package with Cosmos and arrived on a Saturday evening. It was dark, so we hadn't really any concept of where we were or anything, but first impressions were pretty good. - From the outside, the hotel ...
...either side of the main glass doors. First impressions are obviously very important to the hotel as there was someone out here every day making sure the area is clean and tidy, something I took to be a promising sign. - The hotel itself is in residential area in Qawra, although it's only a five or ten minute walk (downhill) to Bugibba sea front and the same in the other direction to the main bus station. I've read other people complaining about ...

A good all-inclusive hotel in an excellent location

Advantages: Outstanding food, good rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Lift doors can hurt, pizzas are poor, no room service and a timeshare rotwieller

...all inclusive stay in the Fortina Spa Resort (5* opened in 2006) and included Club Class return travel with either BA or Air Malta, with Malta transfers and a 2 hour harbour cruise, at a cost of £900 each. Air Malta (Heathrow Terminal 4) provided an outstanding service on both outbound and return sectors - far better than BA! We booked a superior harbour view room and were allocated one on the tower's 4th floor facing Pieta and Marsamxett harbours ...
...also be used in the Fortina hotel bars next door. All drinks are included except aged whiskies and XO Brandy and the like and the cocktail menu is very comprehensive and served by friendly bar staff. There is good live music in the bar area; sadly the piano and musicians are almost hidden from the Limes bar lounge, which has very little character and loads of bar stools, which make it difficult to get to the bar and order drinks. Evening meals have ...

Plaza Regency Hotel in Sliema in central position

Advantages: Easy access to public transport and sea front promenade
Disadvantages: cramped and slow lifts

The Plaza Regency hotel, Sliema is situated at 251 Tower Road, or as the local street signs put it Triq it-Torri. It is seperated from its sister hotel The Plaza, by a road Triq San Frangisk. The two hotel are connected together by a bridge six floors above the street. This sounds weird but works quite well. The two hotels share a dining room which is on the sixth floor of the Plaza, and share a swimming pool which is on the roof (seventh floor) ...
...and I had (in the Plaza Regency) was of a decent size and was clean and tidy. Our room had a balcony overlooking Tower Road, on the other side of which is a cafe and then the sea, with a good view of St Julians Bay.. Not all rooms have a balcony however, and I heard one guest , who was in a single room, saying that he had no windows in his room. The food in the dining room in the dining room was varied, there being three main meat choices, different ...
