A nice place to stay

Advantages: Convenient location
Disadvantages: None significant

...is exclusively for Sunterra and Intercontinental guests. The rooms are quite different from the rest of the hotel and are much more spacious and have a number of additional facilities. The corridors are large, have a luxury carpet and very good lighting. There are plenty of mirrors and framed pictures all along. Most pictures are that of animals! Quite a welcome change. In our suite as well- all framed pictures were of different animals! Our arrangement ...
...good family value. A child sharing pays no extra or room supplements. Children eat for free from the child menu on the same board basis as parents. Bedrooms are air-conditioned/heated and they have bathroom with hairdryer and separate shower, satellite TV with movie-channels, PC and fax modem, free safe, mini-bar and furnished balcony or terrace. Our suite had a family bathroom and an ensuite to the main bedroom. There were 3 flat screen TVs fixed ...

preluna hotel

Advantages: central position
Disadvantages: poor dining room waiting service and table clearing, poor lifts and pool facilities

A very average hotel not worthy of 4 stars in my opinion. Staff were helpful most of the time with a few exceptions. Self service restaurant poorly run at busy times with dishes not being cleared from tables by staff. We resorted to moving our own dishes to make room for next course on more than one occasion. Wine waitors turned up occasionally sometimes when meal almost finished. The food was hot and varied and plentiful. Lifts were a nightmare ...
...working. If you were brave enough to try the stairs you omly tried it once! Position on sea front good for access to walks and buses. The outdoor pool is a fair distance away by the sea which can be a disadvantage. Did not try the indoor facilities of pool etc as the room was overbearingly hot. Entertainment was very average and mostly to be avoided apart from a country and western couple who played in a small restaurant area we were unable to get ...

Another one bites the dust...

Advantages: Leaves room for something bigger, better...
Disadvantages: Rebuilding work will have aknock-on effect for those staying in the environs.

...1980s and operated by the Corinthia Group, now lies derelict; now merely a collection of some 360 rusting balconies on a sprawling sandstone shell. It is survived by the nearby St. Thomas Tower, completed ca 1614 by the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St John of Jerusalem under the leadership of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt, and just visible in the left of the picture attached to this review (taken during the hotel's heyday, I hasten to add!). ...
...JPM Brothers have indicated their desire to build a luxurious 5-star landmark on this prime seafront promontory location in the south-east of Malta. At the same time, the Maltese Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna committed to an undertaking to re-open the Tower, which was a very striking restaurant-cum-banquetting-hall in the late 1970s. If you were planning to rekindle fond memories with a stay in the Jerma Palace Hotel in the near future, think otherwise. ...

D' old men and old women hotel!

Advantages: Situated near the promenade overlooking St Paul's Bay and Islands
Disadvantages: Bedrooms not as luxurious as reception. More fresh fruit needed.

Malta is a beautiful Mediterranean island and I have stayed at several of the many hotels there. Our most recent holiday started with an offer we found through our Timeshare Group and was to stay in the Resort apartments at the Dolmen Resort Hotel, naturally we did some homework and discovered we could stay HB at the same hotel for much less than our apartment deal and airfares, and we would have still needed food! So we booked and a few weeks later ...
...in Qawra, or at least on the outskirts! This hotel is separated from the sea by a road, but there is a tunnel underneath for easy access. The views from the hotel are lovely as it overlooks St Paul's Bay and Islands. The promenade is just across the road and is well used and with many benches is a popular place to sit and enjoy the views. Buses stop close by too, and the bus station is a few minutes walk uphill, from the hotel, where you can travel ...

Excellent service

Advantages: Excellent food, very clean, friendly staff
Disadvantages: It's situated on a hill - not good if you're disabled.

...my family stayed at the Coastline in December 2006 because we got an upgrade over Christmas as Bugibba Holiday Complex was not available. I have to say I was amazed at the difference between the two hotels. We got a great service at the Bugibba, but it was fantastic at the Coastline, although I have to say the room we got was smaller than I'm used to as we normally stay in apartment rooms with kitchenettes. However, the food was glorious and the ...
