An elegant oasis of opulent charm

Advantages: Great courtesy, large, comfortable room, peaceful, well-located
Disadvantages: Some rooms could usefully be modernised

Le Méridian Phoenicia has for a long time styled itself as the premier hotel in Valetta, and there are certainly grounds for agreeing with that verdict. It boasts many famous vistiors, and when there were all the documentaries about the 80th birthday of the Queen, they showed some footage of a ball hosted by (the then) Princess Elizabeth and Duke of Edinburgh in this hotel. Prince Phillip was stationed in Malta in the Navy after they were married, ...
...regularly had afternoon at the Phoenicia Hotel. The hotel is situated just behind the massive city walls of Valletta, not far from the main bus station at Floriana. From the hotel, the heart of Valletta is just a leisurely stroll away, taking you past the prime minister's residence, the Barrakka Gardens and into the bustle of Republic Street and St John's Co-Cathedral. Although it nestles behind the city walls, the hotel is not dwarfed by them. ...

Le Meridien Hotel, St. Julian's - Malta

Advantages: Staff, Facilities, Location
Disadvantages: Lift speed.

...to Malta i stayed in Le Meridien Hotel, located in Saint Julian's. I would not normally have stayed in a 5 star hotel, but I was lucky enough to win some money towards a holiday from the company that I work for. Obviously, with free money, you are going to push the boat out a bit, and I am glad we did!! Location/Area We arrived at the hotel in the dark, quite late on a Friday night. The taxi brought us round a few small streets and then up ...

They are also easy to find, as you just come out of the entrance of the hotel, turn left and walk around the bay, you can't miss them. The area of Saint Julian's itself is a popular destination in Malta. A Very Good Base For Exploring Malta

Advantages: Good facilites, reasonable price, rooftop pool.
Disadvantages: A ten minute walk from the sea front

We stayed at the three-star Sunflower Hotel in Qawra for a week in July and, for the most part, I had no complaints. The hotel was in a good location, had great facilities for its class and was comfortable and suited our needs. We booked it as part of a package with Cosmos and arrived on a Saturday evening. It was dark, so we hadn't really any concept of where we were or anything, but first impressions were pretty good. - From the outside, the hotel ...
...either side of the main glass doors. First impressions are obviously very important to the hotel as there was someone out here every day making sure the area is clean and tidy, something I took to be a promising sign. - The hotel itself is in residential area in Qawra, although it's only a five or ten minute walk (downhill) to Bugibba sea front and the same in the other direction to the main bus station. I've read other people complaining about ...

A good all-inclusive hotel in an excellent location

Advantages: Outstanding food, good rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Lift doors can hurt, pizzas are poor, no room service and a timeshare rotwieller

...all inclusive stay in the Fortina Spa Resort (5* opened in 2006) and included Club Class return travel with either BA or Air Malta, with Malta transfers and a 2 hour harbour cruise, at a cost of £900 each. Air Malta (Heathrow Terminal 4) provided an outstanding service on both outbound and return sectors - far better than BA! We booked a superior harbour view room and were allocated one on the tower's 4th floor facing Pieta and Marsamxett harbours ...

All drinks are included except aged whiskies and XO Brandy and the like and the cocktail menu is very comprehensive and served by friendly bar staff. There is good live music in the bar area; sadly the piano and musicians are almost hidden from the Limes bar lounge, which has very little character and loads of bar stools, which make it difficult to get to the bar and order drinks. Evening meals have ...

Plaza Regency Hotel in Sliema in central position

Advantages: Easy access to public transport and sea front promenade
Disadvantages: cramped and slow lifts

The Plaza Regency hotel, Sliema is situated at 251 Tower Road, or as the local street signs put it Triq it-Torri. It is seperated from its sister hotel The Plaza, by a road Triq San Frangisk. The two hotel are connected together by a bridge six floors above the street. This sounds weird but works quite well. The two hotels share a dining room which is on the sixth floor of the Plaza, and share a swimming pool which is on the roof (seventh floor) ...
...and I had (in the Plaza Regency) was of a decent size and was clean and tidy. Our room had a balcony overlooking Tower Road, on the other side of which is a cafe and then the sea, with a good view of St Julians Bay.. Not all rooms have a balcony however, and I heard one guest , who was in a single room, saying that he had no windows in his room. The food in the dining room in the dining room was varied, there being three main meat choices, different ...
