Hi, can someone tell me how I can upload pictures with a review? I wanted to upload the photos of Manali here but unfortunately can't paste them.

India is a beautiful country. Last year we’d been to Manali, which is a hill station nestled amongst the Himalayas. It lies in the state of Himachal Pradesh, a top tourist destination.

We went to the capital of India, Delhi by train since we live in Mumbai. Delhi also has an international airport from where Manali is very accessible. So if you are not from India you could book an air ticket to Delhi. Thereafter Manali is a 12 hr car ride.

The ride to Manali is a pleasure unless you get sick in a car while going uphill. We set off from the railway station at around 9.00 at night and within a few hours we were skirting beautiful cities like Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.

Towards dawn we were going round the mountain and it was beautiful to watch the sun rise softly against the mountains of snow and greenery. After we located our hotel which was on mall road and freshened up we went to the nature park which we learnt was very close by. After paying an almost negligible amount for entering in, we entered into a park with huge tall trees and which seemed to go on forever.

Our next stop was Manikaran where you can buy souvenirs. There is a gurudwara( A punjabi temple) here, where there is a hot water spring; it is so hot here that they cook food in the water that bubbles up from the Beas river, which everywhere else is chilling cold.

One place which is worth mentioning is the Rohtang pass. It is very beautifully covered in snow throughout the year and we were lucky to witness snow fall when we were there. The only thing I didn’t like on the way to Rohtang was that the road was not built and the journey was pretty rough. It is best to set off for Rohtang early in the morning around five or so, if you want to reach there by 10. And there are lots of people going there so you can actually make out a serpentine queue of cars below and above you on the mountain.

A few other places we visited:
1. The Reorich (I am not sure if the spelling is correct) art gallery which has an old world charm to it and I loved walking along its wooden corridors.
2. The Nagar palace which is also a wooden structure and gives a very beautiful view of the whole of Manali.
3. Kullu, form where we bought a beautiful and warm blanket for my grandma. But I personally felt that it did not have the charm of Manali, it had become too commercialized.
All in all, it is a beautiful place which you should visit at least once if you wish to enjoy the pristine beauty of the Himalayas.
