The Mancunian Way!!
Review of Manchester in general by linzi1806

Advantages: Lots to do, see, eat and drink!
Disadvantages: Buliding work going on at the mo

...might be slightly biased, but Manchester is definatley worth a visit. It has everything you would expect from a big city, but also has many a hidden gem. The main shopping centre is the Arndale (and Market st) and has recently been renovated. It houses all the big name shops needed for a full session of retail therapy. The flagship Topshop is one of the biggest and well stocked in the country. As is the new Next and New Look. The Primark is an attraction ...
...Manchester isn't noted for is blazing sunshine, and theres plenty of things to do indoors. The city centre is home to two art galleries, and various museums. The Manchester Museum on Oxford Rd is nice, and has a very wide selection of exhibitions and displays, including a Vivarium that holds different species of reptiles. Food is plentiful, varied and made to suit every palate, budget and ocasion. Theres the Food Chain which is the main feeding ground ... Read review

Manchester by foot, bus, tram...
Review of Getting around in Manchester by lannazus

Advantages: It's easy, and if you get the right thing, it's free!
Disadvantages: Maybe a little confusing...

...less of a risk of getting run over. It's so busy round here, but everything is pretty much within walkign distance. You have the Arndale center with it's bustling Market Street just outside, then across the road there's the big Marks and Spencers, and then the posh street with Harvey Nichols on. St Anne's Square as well, where we have lots of street acts during the summer as well as lots of other shops: Waterstones, Past Times, all within walking ...
...novel and quick way of getting into Manchester for me. Currently this system operates from Bury in North Manchester to Altringham in the South, as well as Eccles which is slightly to the side (I forget which way). These cover the more out of town busy places such as Salford Quays, Old Trafford, and Bury's World Famous Market! They even have buses arranged near one of the Trafford stops to shuttle you to the Trafford Center! Now, this method of travel ... Read review

Get a City Card if you live in Manchester
Review of City Card Manchester by paulkinder07

Advantages: Great product, easy to use and good value for money
Disadvantages: only usable in Manchester

...to find out about the City Card scheme from a work mate. We were meeting clients for lunch in the city centre, and he passed me the City Card membership guide and asked me to book a restaurant of my choice from the list. When I asked him what it was all about he revealed that you use the City Card to get discounts at restaurants around the city. Upon further investigation on the website I noticed that there were many other benefits included in the ...
...have several meals booked at City Card restaurants so this I'm sure will make us some more good savings. So far I reckon we have used it about 4 different restaurants and through these saved around £55-60. So far in around 4 months the card has saved us around £200. In terms of it's function, the card seems very simple to use. Each of the places we have used the card seem to recognise it straight away. Some do require you to pre-book and mention ... Read review

Going your way!
Review of Altrincham Buses and Station by Tha-Flash

Advantages: Get's you from place to place!
Disadvantages: Evil bus drivers and cold!

...are that you wont use Altrincham Bus station but I haven't written a review in a while and nobody else has written a review on it. Initially I thought there wouldn't be much to write about but as I've been thinking - several ideas are coming through. Everything I will mention:- • Altrincham / Around the Station • The Station • The People • The Buses • The Bus Drivers • The Website • Other Comments ...
...STATION Altrincham is not a very big place, all of the actual shops aren't far from the station. If you don't want to get the bus you can always use the Taxi rank or the Metrolink. The Taxi rank also has some seats, a phone box and that big clock (picture) I used to think was Big Ben when I was younger. There's also a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut not far from the station. • THE STATION There are two parts to the station and two aisles where the ... Read review

Manchester - My first love
Review of Manchester in general by davejug1

Advantages: So much diversity in such a compact place
Disadvantages: The weather

...comes remotely close to what Manchester offers. Based on cotton manufacturing, Manchester had a difficult problem in the 60s as the textile industry was starting to decline. As you probably have seen watching Coronation Street, Manchester really was like this during the 60's, 70'2 and 80's, struggling to find it's place in the world. Poverty was widespread and life expentancy short. All was to change one morning in June 1996. A huge terrorist bomb ...
...of events that has enabled Manchester to be reborn as a modern, independant, cultural city. The City centre itself offers the full-on experience of tourist attractions. Land mark shops like Harvey Nichols, Selfriges, Armani and the largest Marks and Spencer's in the world, blend in seamlessly with with historic hotels, galleries and museums. The central library is worthy of particular note being a huge round ampitheatre type building. Victorian ... Read review
