Should Be Called "The Palace" aparthotel
Review of The Place Apartment Hotel, Manchester by nic20

Advantages: Gorgeous hotel, not too close to the centre so you dont get the noise
Disadvantages: the very slow lift

The Decision My partner and myself decided to make this trip to Manchester a special one. To be honest (like most couples) we have very little quality time together. So the search for a great hotel started. Every hotel was starting to look very similar to the next, until we stumbled upon "The Place Aparthotel". It offered a different concept in hotel stays, as what you actually stayed in were apartments instead of tiny hotel rooms. The fact that ...
...we went for it. The Arrival It took us about two hours to get to our chosen hotel. Due to the wonders of satellite navigation it directed us nicely in the vicinity of The Place Aparthotel. Then the problems of the sat nav came in, for those of you who aren't aware of how these systems operate the majority of them do not take into account one-way systems.. and to make matters worse for the last part of the journey there were roadwork's around the ... Over priced average hotel
Review of Thistle Manchester, Manchester by leannemichele18

Advantages: Great Location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: over priced.

...so I went for the Thistle as it was alot cheaper than other hotels with a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. I paid £79 for one night at the weekend. We arrived about 1.30pm and although it states check in is at 2 o'clock we thought we would try a bit earlier. The staff on reception were very friendly and checking in that bit early was not a problem. The reception is quite elegant looking with security on the door of an evening and a restaurant and bar, which ...
...Overall I dont think the Thistle is worth the money they charge especially as sometimes the rooms can be over £110! The rooms are very average in need of some refurbishment, if your only after a basic hotel in a great location and are willing to pay the money for it then the Thistle is for you. If I was only looking for basic facilities as this hotel has, I personally would look to pay a bit less in another hotel. ... Read review

Our Days in Manchester
Review of Days Hotel Manchester City, Manchester by SusanLesley

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, good food, handy for the hospital
Disadvantages: We had one or two problems - see review

...searching he finally found The Days Hotel at the end of Sackville Street nearest to the Mancunian Way and thus nearest to the Manchester Royal Infirmary. *** The Booking *** We decided to book a Work Zone Room which was a bit larger than the standard room and, of course, a bit more expensive. Dave wanted to have that little bit extra luxury so that it would be a stress free haven when we returned from hospital visiting. Dave did the actual booking ...
...address of the hotel is Days Hotel, Weston Building, Sackville St, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M1 3BB It is half a kilometer from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station and 10 kilometers from Manchester Airport. It took us about ten minutes to walk into the centre of Manchester from the hotel. It is about 20 minutes walk from Manchester Royal Infirmary! Directions on how to find the hotel are on the active hotels website www.activehotels.com/servlet/xmlbrochure/index.do?hotelid=217168&trkref=KWI&subid=G.1 ... Read review

Sachas Hotel
Review of Britannia Sachas Hotel, Manchester by bohoangel

Advantages: IN the centre and near the arena
Disadvantages: No windows in bedroom

I went to Manchester recently to go and see a concert, so me and my friend stayed in this hotel. When pulling up to the hotel it looked funky, but it's totally different when you get inside. It had a very old fashioned decor and some of it seemed mismatched. The reception desk was long with 3 staff members behind it, but only one member of staff seemed to want to help. They never mentioned what time food was served or where either. After we checked ...
...would be big enough if you had more luggage. It did advertise the restaurant but it didn't tell you what food was available. When we got up to the room and it was quite small but very hot. So we looked behind the curtains to see if we could open the windows but to our surprise there was none. There was air conditioning and a fan but they were just too loud to sleep. The bed was very hard and lumpy to. The bathroom thank god was clean and a reasonable ... Read review

Not very footballers wives any more
Review of Copthorne Hotel Manchester, Manchester by koshkha

Advantages: Convenient for Man U & Salford Quays
Disadvantages: Looking very dated

I used to live about 5 miles from this hotel and regularly visited the cinema next door which has sadly been closed. I considered it as a possible wedding night venue when I got married 8 years ago so at that time I would have rated it quite highly. We didn't stay there because there was a Man U home game that day and the place was full so I went back with a sense of expectations. The location is within crawling distance of Old Trafford. In its ...
...believe but these days the tired decor and lack of gym mean the away teams are more likely to be out at the Worsely Marriott or another higher standard hotel. Firstly I should set the scene with some background info. I booked the room through Lastminute.com and got a great rate of about £69 for a Quayside room. It was a room only rate. Man U were obviously away that weekend as the price doubles on match weekends. This isn't a hotel to choose for ... Read review
