Who turned out the lights?

Advantages: clean, good standard rooms
Disadvantages: Not central, fiddly lighting, and the staff were having a bad day, breakfast

...room at the Express by Holiday Inn. Here's where my troubles began Despite calling me Fiona on the phone and having me spell out my full name when they took my debit card details the e-mail confirmation bore a different initial. No problems I thought, I have driving lisence and anyway my card details can be checked. I set off from home for the six hour journey and all went well until I was within spitting distance and then I got lost, very lost! ...
...as you would expect from Holiday Inn. I thought it was pricey for what we got, I paid £89 and to be fair it wasn't very different from a travel lodge or premier inn. Would I stay there again? Hmmm, I guess if there was no comparable but cheaper alternatives. A resounding OK is how I'd sum up the experience. ...

Great place to stay

Advantages: Catering, staff, facilities in rooms.
Disadvantages: None :)

...wasn't expecting to enjoy my stay as I'd just come for a business trip, but the atmosphere and staff made my experience good. They helped me get around the city and often I was phoning them for advice to get from place to place... which they didn't mind! Manchester is a great city, and this isn't very centrally located, but it took me about 6/7 minutes to walk to the town centre. The city centre itself is bustling all the time, and so to stay just ...

Dinstinctive and Individual Boutique Hotel!

Advantages: Luxurious hotel!
Disadvantages: You have to provide a £50 deposit on your credit card upon arrival.

My partner and I enjoyed a romantic stay at this wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Manchester over Easter 2008. If you book online via the hotel's website they offer last minute deals which are far cheaper than the standard rates. We stayed in a Boudior Grand Room for £120 a night whereas the standard rate for this type of room is £255. The hotel is centrally located opposite Granada TV and the Museum of Science and Industry. Walking distance ...
...room was on two levels: living area downstairs and bathroom / bedroom upstairs. Bathroom had a roll-top bath as well as modern rain head shower. The hotel has a roof top terrace and hot tub so take your trunks! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We also enjoyed oysters from the hotel's very own oyster bar. It is a bit pricey but well worth it and a bit more distinctive than chain boutique hotels, although there is a sister hotel: Didsbury ...

Bargain Rooms in a Fab Location

Advantages: Great location, cheap parking, great price
Disadvantages: No luxuries, all the extras cost a lot

...not a lot, but the Travelodge make no pretence about this being the reason why their prices are so low. They give you a room from 3pm to midday the following day and you can pay for any extras you want, including earlier check-in (£10), later check-out (£10), breakfast (£5.99 online or £7.50 at check-in, per person). We didn't take any of these options, so can't comment on the value for money, but considering there are so many places to eat in the ...
...though. Like I said, the Travelodge keeps their prices low by removing all the 'frills', so don't expect to find toiletries (other than one mini bar of soap), a hair-dryer, an iron or even a phone! We were also only supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel, so I would recommend asking for another at reception when you check-in to avoid problems when you get out of the shower and find nothing to dry yourself with! You can ask at reception as ...
