Over priced average hotel
Review of Thistle Manchester, Manchester by leannemichele18

Advantages: Great Location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: over priced.

...so I went for the Thistle as it was alot cheaper than other hotels with a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. I paid £79 for one night at the weekend. We arrived about 1.30pm and although it states check in is at 2 o'clock we thought we would try a bit earlier. The staff on reception were very friendly and checking in that bit early was not a problem. The reception is quite elegant looking with security on the door of an evening and a restaurant and bar, which ...
...Overall I dont think the Thistle is worth the money they charge especially as sometimes the rooms can be over £110! The rooms are very average in need of some refurbishment, if your only after a basic hotel in a great location and are willing to pay the money for it then the Thistle is for you. If I was only looking for basic facilities as this hotel has, I personally would look to pay a bit less in another hotel. ... Read review

Should Be Called "The Palace" aparthotel
Review of The Place Apartment Hotel, Manchester by nic20

Advantages: Gorgeous hotel, not too close to the centre so you dont get the noise
Disadvantages: the very slow lift

The Decision My partner and myself decided to make this trip to Manchester a special one. To be honest (like most couples) we have very little quality time together. So the search for a great hotel started. Every hotel was starting to look very similar to the next, until we stumbled upon "The Place Aparthotel". It offered a different concept in hotel stays, as what you actually stayed in were apartments instead of tiny hotel rooms. The fact that ...
...we went for it. The Arrival It took us about two hours to get to our chosen hotel. Due to the wonders of satellite navigation it directed us nicely in the vicinity of The Place Aparthotel. Then the problems of the sat nav came in, for those of you who aren't aware of how these systems operate the majority of them do not take into account one-way systems.. and to make matters worse for the last part of the journey there were roadwork's around the ... City Inn Manchester
Review of City Inn, Manchester by blaaboy

Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Small rooms

...to the centre of the city - Piccadilly Gardens. The staff have always been helpful through my stays. The decor is contemporary and the rooms are finished to a high standard. Every room comes equiped with an Apple desktop computer with free internet acess - a nice touch. Fixture and fitting are all of a high spec and clean throughout. My only grip perhaps is that all the rooms are quite small. The hotel bar is again contemporary in style, but is comfortable ... Read review

Our night at the Jurys Inn
Review of Jurys Inn Manchester, Manchester by dorat84

Advantages: Pleasant,friendly,clean. Quiet.
Disadvantages: None that we could see.

...stayed one night in the Jurys Inn with my husband. It is situated inthe city centre, close to the shops and next to Bridgewater Hall. Our room was not very big but roomy enough and pleasant with plenty of natural light via the window. There was not much of a view even though we were on the sixth floor. There was tea & coffee provided & a very fast-boiling kettle. We were given extra coffee & tew bags at reception with no hesitation when we asked. ...
...& we had a good night's sleep. It was very quiet during the night, no doors slamming or people walking around the corridors ,in fact we wondered if we were the only guests! No noise from outside the hotel, either. The bathroom was quite small but nice powerful shower. Breakfast wasn't included for us & we didn't eat dinner there so can't comment on the food. All in all a pleasant stay. ... Read review

Apartments are the way forward!
Review of Premier Apartments - Manchester, Manchester by JaynieMo

Advantages: Central, stylish, affordable and just downright cool
Disadvantages: You have to make your own fry-up in the morning

...weekends!) I came across the Premier Apartments. We had decided on Manchester as the city venue for the two nights of debauchery, but as it is only an hour's drive from where we live, we wanted something a little different than just a hotel. And am I glad we went for these. There is loads of space, they are clean, convenient and you get a huge kitchen complete with a fridge freezer, vital for keeping the pre-night out drinks cool. LOCATION These ...
...Centre and the Printworks in the centre of Manchester. Victoria station is nearby and Picadilly station just a short taxi journey away. There is also a bus and tram station directly across the way from these apartments. We drove in, coming across from the West and had a little bit of difficulty finding the apartments, although this could have been rectified with better directions. Basically, you head to the MEN arena and turn off just before it. ... Read review
