"All I need is the air that I breathe...."
Review of Palace Hotel, Manchester by sadoldbag

Advantages: Sumptous, elegant, grand, slick, great location.
Disadvantages: expensive, no additional facilities e.g. swimming pool, gym etc.

...spent a night at the Palace Hotel in Manchester, on business. It is a rather grand, distinctively impressive Victorian building right in the heart of the city, that was originally built as insurance offices, apparently, and still does slightly have the feeling as you arrive in the door of being a rather commercial venue. I actually walked past the entrance the first time, assuming that what I could see was a shopping mall or something - the entrance ...
...the nearest is the NCP Palace car park but at £15.50 a day it's not cheap - a better deal for Palace residents can be had at the one a 5 minute walk away which only costs £7.50 a day if they validate your ticket at reception. It is an imposing building amd hard to miss (clever of me to walk past, actually!) and the entrance hall is cavernous and grand. The staff on reception are friendly and check-in was swift - this is a four star hotel and it ... Read review

Noisy, Smelly, Tatty Hotel Stuck In The 1970's
Review of Britannia Country House Hotel, Manchester by johnny040676

Advantages: Close To Manchester Airport
Disadvantages: Too Many To List, Needs A refurb, Needs A Good Clean, Noisy

BACKGROUND ******************* Ahh the Britannia Country House Hotel, a couple of miles from Manchester airport, the perfect place to stay the night before jeting off on our honeymoon, thought my new wife and I in August 2006. We booked online and only paid £64 for a double room with champagne on arrival, and it looked so modern and the name country house just added to the picture in our heads what a perfect start to our honeymoon. How wrong can ...
...We arrived on a Saturday afternoon having got married on the Thursday and stayed a couple of nights at the hotel we had got married in, and as we parked on the large car park to the front and walked up to the front we noticed there was a wedding going on and they were having some photo's taken outside, the exterior looked very nice an fairly modern and the gardens were nice. As we entered the building though everything changed, the decor inside ... Read review

Our night at the Jurys Inn
Review of Jurys Inn Manchester, Manchester by dorat84

Advantages: Pleasant,friendly,clean. Quiet.
Disadvantages: None that we could see.

...stayed one night in the Jurys Inn with my husband. It is situated inthe city centre, close to the shops and next to Bridgewater Hall. Our room was not very big but roomy enough and pleasant with plenty of natural light via the window. There was not much of a view even though we were on the sixth floor. There was tea & coffee provided & a very fast-boiling kettle. We were given extra coffee & tew bags at reception with no hesitation when we asked. ...
...& we had a good night's sleep. It was very quiet during the night, no doors slamming or people walking around the corridors ,in fact we wondered if we were the only guests! No noise from outside the hotel, either. The bathroom was quite small but nice powerful shower. Breakfast wasn't included for us & we didn't eat dinner there so can't comment on the food. All in all a pleasant stay. ... Read review

Fantastic Building - Awful Hotel
Review of Britannia Hotel Manchester, Manchester by strow

Advantages: Fantastic architure and history to this Grade II listed building
Disadvantages: Now contains a cheap and noisy hotel

...Manchester City Centre, then the Britannia Hotel in Manchester cit centre seems to fit the bill. Unfortunately however, the rooms, atmosphere and general politeness of staff are somewhat lacking. I would recommend staying somwehere else, such as the Portland Thistle hotel next door, or the Piccadilly Gardens hotel (a short walk away). The Britannia does seem to attract most of the stag do's in town and irish football fans when Manchester United are ...
...are two bars at the Britannia Hotel - WAVE bar and Bar-Rogue, I would reccomend avoiding WAVE bar and Bar Rogue on a weekend night as it does attract a lot of unsavoury characters and trouble is commonplace at weekends, the drinks offers are superb though, with many £1 a pint promotions on throughout the week. Both bars offer food all day long at affordable prices and there is music provided by the in-house DJ's. Also located within the hotel complex ... Read review

Simply Perfect
Review of Radisson Edwardian Manchester, Manchester by KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Great service, ideal location, modern rooms with lots of fab features
Disadvantages: The prices.

...a fantastic rate for the Radisson Edwardian I made my reservation there. I made my reservation over the phone directly with the hotel to secure my rate of £75 for the room for the night, however reservations can be made on their website www.radissonedwardian.com/manchester. *~*Locating the Hotel*~* The hotel is easy to miss on busy Peter Street as the entrance is set away from the pavement; I was armed with maps to ensure that I didn't end up ...
...of glass double doors with Radisson Edwardian etched into the glass. As you enter the hotel you are greeted with the reception area on the left and running through the middle of reception are fantastic leather sofas with complementary newspapers on the tables. As I arrived I was greeted with a friendly smiley staff member eager to check me in. Check in is at 2pm and I had called to advise that I would be arriving later that day and secured the ...
