I personally love it and will get to give it another go in a few weeks, flying to Tenerife from Manchester Airport (Ringway). I have only been on a foreign holiday twice, both times flying from Ringway.
I have to say that it was a much better experience than I was expecting, I was expecting simply to check in and sit down and wait for the flight. Each time I have flown it, has been from terminal 3, so I will review that one. In reality, there is lots to do - shops:
WH Smiths
Various food and drink outlets
A few shops selling electrical goods and Manchester souvenirs.
Clothes - Tie Rack/Shop? etc
Duty Free shop.
And once you have spent up, you can sit and wait for your flight to board, with an excellent view of the stand ( sort of parking area for the planes)
As well as shopping opportunities, there are lots of amusement machines and vibrating chairs (for those with a kinky side, lol!!)
Once you have checked in and gone through the security checks, you will find that there are plenty of T.V Screens with flight details, though I don't think they announce them over P.A System, so you'll have to watch the screens!!
Check in times, I have found to be pretty quick, though it can sometimes take quite a while to get through the security checks.
The airport it's self is clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The terminal building is huge and because of this allows for walks if you don't want to sit around.
Now that the new runway is built and in use, it should mean less waiting around once you have boarded the plane and quite possibly less delays, although I have never been delayed for more than 10 minutes, and that was because the baggage system broke down.
When using the old runway, taxi-ing to it, gives you the opportunity to see many different parts of the airport, for example, the light aircraft hangar and all the associated buildings and also one of the airport firestations.
Taking off gives you an excellent view of the surrounding area, all the houses and roads and motorways, as does landing, I have one time seen the Trafford Centre, when landing at night, it was amazing - lit up like a christmas tree!!
If there is any more that you would like, but I have not included, please contact me and I will do my best to add it!
