Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

...Hyde park was once a deer park for Henry the 8th when all that surrounded it was countryside, now just under half a millenium later the surrounding city doesn't hinder it's beauty. The size of the park is sufficient to get away from the fumes, hustle and bustle and noise of London city. If your visiting London for the first time Hyde park is a must, It goes with Big Ben, the tower of London and all things cockney. Hyde park is also a centre of sport and leisure, dogs are regularly walked (although the park rangers do a good job of keeping it clean!) It has its very own laid back atmosphere which is such a contrast to the surroundings.... Read review

Advantages: Outstanding Views, best hotel in London i've stayed at
Disadvantages: couldn't fault it

...I stayed at this Hotel last year, and have been to London 4 times since. Ive stayed in over 10 hotels in the capital and can honestly say this has been my favourite hotel. The views over Hyde Park were gorgeous and gave a lovely view of the london eye, and the flight path. The rooms were a good size and layed out well. It wasn't unclean at all. The staff were extremely helpful and went out their way to help you. The breakfast was gorgeous and provided a great choice. The hotel was close to the local tube station, and close to notting hill and shops. It was central to oxford street and all that London has to offer, without been slap bang in the middle. Only downfall i suppose ( the only one) was that it was upstairs to a petrol station yet it wasnt a problem for me. I would recommend this hotel 100% and enjoyed my stay.... Read review

Advantages: lots of good attractions
Disadvantages: high prices

...London is a great place for tourists as it has plenty of famous attractions to visit such as Buckingham Palace,London Eye,Hyde Park,Westminister Abbey etc.Even though we have among the highest prices for fuel and clothes in Europe,it is still worth coming to see London.The public transport is not really good,as there are sometimes strikes in the tube and the buses run late.i recommend coming to london to anyone,but be prepared to pay some high prices for goods and souvenirs.Be careful of pickpockets as they target tourists.you should give london a try....
