...Brasília, the capital of Brazil, was built on a gigantic scale on the Central Brazilian Plateau, a large area which covers a few States in central Brazil. It is part of the federal district so not officially part of any state but geographically it lies within the state of Goiania. Brasilia is a modern city.
At the time of construction full license was given to the planners and architects to build large, innovative buildings and to fully use their freedom of spirit and imagination. Another purpose was to open up the interior of the country to development. This is one reason why the central government was moved there. I would recommend that you visit this city if you get the chance. You can travel there by bus or plane....

Advantages: Tremendous, breathtaking, spectacular views of the city, well priced Disadvantages: Queues, and more queues. Treated like a blithering idiot.

I have been to New York many times on business over the years but had never really spent more than a few hours of free time getting to know the place so when my husband suggested we have a long weekend there recently I bit his arm off!
Mind you, those business trips had served me well because I knew quite a few of the central hotels and also knew how poor value they can be: how basic and uninteresting and how noisy many of them can be as the sirens wail past them through the night. So I knew that the best thing we could do was book into the Millennium UN Plaza for a real treat...
