On the outskirts of Manikata there were two military camps in the 1960's. One was home to Royal Malta Artillery and the other was a British Army camp which hosted many different regiments including the Royal Marines .

Manikata has a unique styled church (st Joseph's church) which attracts many visitors.
Manikata is a quite village at night, there is no nightclubs or wine-bars. In fact there are only a few shops at present.
Manikata is not a tourist village. There are are places nearby to stay in if you need to. (hal ferh village and the new hotel at Golden Bay)
There is a bus every hour or so from/to Valletta which can be a bit daunting but what the hell it only costs a few cents and you see the scenary.
You can see a few pictures of Manikata via my web page. http://www.manikata.com
Manikata - This is a little village in the North side of Malta. This little village is approximately 4 miles from Mellieha and 3 miles from St. Pauls' Bay and Mgarr. Manikata is mainly a farming community. There are approximately 100 families in this location. Very close by is one of the most popular holiday beacjes on the Island "Golden Bay". Next door to Golden Bay is Ghajn-Tuffieha Bay just as nice. Both these Sandy beaches are within walking distance from Manikata.
One of the main attractions at Manikata is the church. This church church was built around 1970. Maltese churches tend to be very ornate whilst this one is stunningly simple.
There are no hotels at Manikata, nearest one being Golden Sands Hotel at Holden Bay (1 mile). There is however a self catering resort with horseriding facilites "hal-Ferh". This used to be ...

This seaside area is one of the earliest villages established in MALTA.
Originally this was a fishing and framing community. This location encompassed other little villages ( Bugibba, Qawra, Burmarrad, Manikata, Pwales Xemxija and a few others.) In the last 40 years or so a dramatic change took place. Tourist started to find this location very attractive and the villagers very friendly. Bugibba and Qawra which were two very tiny villages have become major touristic villages in this area. There are several big hotels and complexes which cater for the tourist. There are quite a good choice of restaurants in this vicinity.
If you take time to visit the surrounding area you will ...
