RENAISSANCE HOTEL - LOCATION AT ITS BEST

Advantages: Prime location - near malls and within the financial district
Disadvantages: none

...I must say that Renaissance Hotel, which is now being run by Marriott, has become a favorite especially of the kids. In fact, we have checked in there three times already since the children simply love the place. Renaissance is considered as a five-star hotel in Manila although based on what I saw online, it is only given a four-star rating. Well, admittedly, it is not of the Shangri-la or Peninsula caliber but it is has warmth. The hotel lobby is ...
...bustling with activities. Renaissance Hotel is also a favorite place for conferences, seminars and business meetings. I’ve been there for numerous occasions and I have no complaint whatsoever with the way they handle our events requirements. We never had a single problem while staying or conducting business at Renaissance Hotel so I highly recommend this to anyone interested in visiting Manila either for business or pleasure (or both). As for us, ...

MAKATI SHANGRI-LA HOTEL - A Place for those with Discerning Taste

Advantages: location, wonderful accommodations, delicious food
Disadvantages: expensive

Makati Shangri-la Hotel is classy. And expensive. Staying there is a luxury which my family and I indulged in one weekend using the discount vouchers included in my Shangri-la Senses card. Makati Shangri-la is one of the most popular hotels in Metro Manila and is often chosen as the preferred residence of most foreign dignitaries and executives visiting the country. The moment you step into the lobby, you could already feel why it is given a five-star ...
...the pool only to ourselves. Makati Shangri-la also has a gym, sauna and tennis courts but I am not into fitness so I didn’t find it necessary to try them out. One of the things I’m fond of is eating and Makati Shangri-la’s Circles buffet restaurant is among my favorite haunts. It is where we go whenever we want a variety of food. It has Japanese, Chinese, Western, Filipino, Italian, and Indian Cuisine, among other things. It costs around Php 1,200 ...

EDSA SHANGRI-LA HOTEL - A Garden Oasis in the middle of the City

Advantages: near malls and MRT station, within the Ortigas business complex
Disadvantages: none

...it would be “lovely”. EDSA Shangri-la Hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the city. The beautifully-landscaped garden with the flower-shaped pool, jogging path and tennis courts, is a wonderful spot to unwind. Within the area is the Chi’ Spa, a relaxing place to be pampered and to soothe one’s tired muscles though the prices of spa services are quite high based on Manila standards. Well, I guess, one has to pay for ambiance. My family once spent ...
...a five-star hotel. Well, EDSA Shangri-la is part of the Shangri-la chain so it is not surprising that the rooms and services are of high standard. It has two wings. We stayed in the cosmopolitan wing which has a view of the city. The other wing overlooks the garden. During our short vacation, the kids had a blast in the pool while my husband and I spent a few hours getting a full-body massage at Chi’. Afterwards, we had dinner at Heat, a buffet restaurant ...

MANILA PAVILION - A Place for Casino Lovers

Advantages: It has a Casino and also near Manila attractions
Disadvantages: The location is not very nice

...foreign tourists, flock to the Manila Pavilion because of the Casino (there are only two casinos in Metro Manila) but other than that, I do not find the hotel to be outstanding. There are always a lot of people in the lobby, thus, making it feel a bit crowded. It could use more elegance in its design and decorations especially for the lobby. However, it has such a homey atmosphere and won’t make one feel intimidated. My family and I stayed at Manila ...
...area in the City of Manila which is not very pleasing to the eyes. But if you really want to get the pulse of Manila, then it is a good starting point. It is a few meters walk to the highway but there are a lot of passenger jeepneys, a very popular mode of transportation in the Philippines, that pass by the hotel. Taxis are also everywhere and are relatively cheap and convenient. Many fast food restaurants surround the hotel so you can simply drop ...

Review of Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino, Manila

Where I stay in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Advantages: Close to the entertainment, shopping & business districts at a reasonal price with friendly staff.
Disadvantages: Noisy on the Ayala side and a little run down.

...I have stayed in the Gilarmi Apartments several times, the last was for a month between Dec 2001 and Jan 2002. ~~~ The Facts First ~~~ The Gilarmi Apartments are located in the centre of Makati City, Manila’s Business district. Consequently, the Gilarmi Apartments are close to many of the Philippine’s major corporations, Shopping Malls and entertainment areas. The Gilarmi is situated between Udameta Village and Ayala Avenue, this is ...
...Across Ayala from the Gilarmi is the Glorietta Center shopping Mall, which is well worth a wander around. Close by are a number of 5 star hotels, including the Dusit, The Intercontinental, the Peninsula and the Shangri-la. Also within a few minutes walk are lots of good places to eat and places to go for a good night out. I recommend ‘Street Life’ in the Glorietta Center and Azzoro’s across from the Intercontinental. Facilities ...
