Lovely holiday in Calahonda
Review of Club Marbella, Marbella by
starjen
Advantages: Great complex, excellent facilities, clean, great location
Disadvantages: No shallow end to pool, hilly area and complex
...from a weeks stay at Club Marbella in Calahonda. Calahonda is a town in between Malaga and Marbella, about a 30 minute drive from Malaga airport.
I went on this holiday with my boyfriend, Mum and her partner. They stay at this resort as part of a timeshare but you are also able to book to go on holiday here independently.
We arrived late afternoon and parked in the large car park over the road. We went over to the small reception area and didn't ... ...to choose which room we wanted to stay in, which I thought was good although perhaps wouldn't be an option in peak season.
The room we choose was on the 3rd floor and you had to go either down a long slope or steps and then back up three flights of steps to the room, this isn't somewhere I'd recommend for people with walking difficulties or in a wheelchair.
The room was a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, a lounge area and kitchen. The ...

Vacation Club - fractional fun in the sun
Review of Marriott's Playa Andaluza Vacation Ownership Resort by
andyk910
Advantages: More comfortable than a hotel room - good with kids
Disadvantages: Not your apartment - can't leave anything there - do you want to keep going back?
Introduction
**************
Spain's Costa del Sol has been a sunshine playground for getting on 50 years and is still one of the best loved places for sun, sea and sand in mainland Europe. Coming from a series of fishing villages, the coastal towns developed wildly and some would say too much, and a correction in the last 10 or so years has seen efforts to demolish some of the overcrowded 2-star type accommodation in favour of lower density but ... ...the short stay visitor and the villas and apartments for the longer stay guest, there is a demand for a cross between the two, and this demand is the reason for the Marriott Playa Andaluza, a Marriott Vacation Club property. Whisper it quietly (the words are not welcome) but there are elements of timeshare here. You can buy the right to use one of the apartments for a week or more, and you can swap the time you have there for equivalent time at other ...

Good Hotel aided by good food
Review of H10 Andalucia Plaza, Marbella by
emeraldgazer
Advantages: Resturant/food, large pool, casino, not far from harbour
Disadvantages: Views on some sides of hotel, wrong side of puerto banus
I must say that either this hotel has changed its policies or I must disagree with the other reveiwer admittedly there were several downsides to the hotel such as the hotel was the wrong side of the main road in puerto banus, but there were taxis waiting outside the hotel all night, the taxis were expensive but nothing more than you would expect to pay for this area or you could use the underpass route which envolved a short walk to the harbour. ... ...all that great although Louis' lounge is worth a visit with some good live music on sundays.
The Good:
Nice big pool with poolside bar and restaurant, good facilities; clean indoor pool, gym, sauna, games room and a casino with free entrance. Friendly Staff too.
Large spacious clean rooms with large bathrooms, range of breakfast; continental, cooked or even Cava and cavier ...

Los Monteros hotel
Review of Hotel Los Monteros, Marbella by
eddierog
Advantages: Sheer luxury
Disadvantages: Costly
...distances. A feature of the hotel is the cabane which is a 5 minute drive away, with regular shuttle buses to take you there. Here you can relax away from the crowds on your private stretch of beach or by the swimming pool. Full size beds will have to be booked in advance and sun beds are available but for a fee, about 18 euros. A restaurant is located on the beach and the buffet lunch there is recommended. It's worth checking the web site for special ...

Andalucia Plaza - not a 4 star hotel!
Review of H10 Andalucia Plaza, Marbella by
Suzywong41
Advantages: Nice bathrooms and good breakfast
Disadvantages: Too many to mention
Having just returned from the Andalucia Plaza, I thought I would let you know what I thought of this hotel. I went for the weekend with friends and had been highly recommended that this hotel was one of the best to stay in, in Marbella so was really looking forward to it.
We arrived on Friday and had booked to stay until Sunday (3 days) and got to the hotel at 1.30pm. Our rooms weren't ready and we had to wait 2 hours for them - not impressed! When ... ...there.
Were very disappointed with the rooms - not what I would call 4 star - very basic and the furnishings were tatty. The telephones didn't work the whole of our stay; the balconies were very small and we had a lovely view overlooking the air-conditioning units! Also, the TV only seemed to like showing us Russian programmes - not much use when you're English! The one good thing about the rooms were the bathrooms - bright and clean and excellent ...
