Surviving Hiroshima

Advantages: Mazda Factory tour, Centrally located Baseball stadium and sights & incredible Miyajima daytrip.
Disadvantages: Expensive of accomodation!

strength of all three was too great to break. A simple lesson in alliance, loyalty and unity. Hence Sanfrecce's manly mottos of "strength and unity", etc. Why on earth "arrow" is in Italian, though, God alone knows. Maybe Marco Polo had something to do with it. Hiroshima is a very pleasant place. The flipside of the destruction wraught upon it at the end of the war has been the freedom it has offered town planning since. Leafy parks and boulevards abound, and the city is broken up by seven rivers which carry breezes down from the surrounding hills to the island packed inland sea. This helps keep it cooler than other Japanese cities, even at the height of broiling summer. There are a few trips availible on the rivers which look overpriced and rather uninteresting. Historic Hiroshima

Advantages: A beautiful and historic city!
Disadvantages: I can't speak Japanese!

Hiroshima is the capital city of the Hiroshima Prefecture (Hiroshima-ken) which is in western Honshu. This Japanese city is famous for having suffered the first atomic bomb on 6 August 1945. Since then it has become a city devoted to peace and the eradication of all forms of mass destruction. More personally for me it is the city where my old housemate teaches English to Japanese school children. This year I visited Japan and stayed with my friend in Kure, a small town forty minutes by bus or train from Hiroshima. GETTING THERE I came into Narita airport which is about an hour by Express train from Tokyo. I then changed and got on the Shinkansen, or Bullet train, destined for Hakata. The Shinkansen is not cheap, but for me this was still going to work out cheaper than flying into Osaka airport. If you do fly in to Osaka you may ...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...
