I didn't like Playa d' las Americas much but the torviscas and fanabe area were lovely. Some people hire a car to get around, but to be honest if you like walking then ten minutes walk to some areas of the resort is pleasant on an nice summers' evening and afterwards we always got a taxi back to the hotel. Plenty of live entertainment everywhere.
I would go back to Tenerife, but not to this particular hotel. I would prefer somewhere more quieter next time. ...

I can't help it. Wherever I go, one of the first things I like to do is search out the local beer. France might not seem the ideal location for an intrepid beer-seeker to flex his taste-buds, but these days, in common with most of the world, brewers are waking up to the fact that some people actually drink beer for the taste and all-round experience, and not just to slake a thirst and get a buzz (that's a bonus).

This Scandinavian run hotel has been visited by my wife and I for the last 3 years and our 4th visit is due in October. The hotel is situated in the Fanabe area which is only 20 minutes from the airport in a taxi.
Our main reason for booking the same hotel at the same time of year is that is a peaceful place for a relaxing stay yet only 5 minutes drive away if you like your late nights is the more entertaining Playa de las Americas resort.
The hotel is only a 5 minute downhill walk to a large beach where the cost of 2 beds and a straw 'parasol' is 12 euros [2006 price]. There are literally dozens of places to eat out if you so desire.
We particularly enjoy the hotel because the main tourists are Scandinavian and the majority are there with children. This however is no problem as they are better behaved than British children ...
